8th Grade Mass and GRADUATION!!!

Dear Parents,

Have you thought about how quickly the school year is moving along?  It is hard to believe that May will be here in less than two weeks! WOW!
For this week's letter to you, I would like to talk about how spring brings to fruition the school vision statement as it transcends from paper to practice - or how is the vision statement a crescendo as a living part of our students' lives?
Over-arching statement: Blessed Sacrament Catholic School is an academic community of faith that develops the whole child's mind, heart, and soul.
We do this by:
Faith: Inspiring students to encounter, love, and serve Jesus Christ through the Catholic faith.
* All of our students have grown in faith after another year of religious instruction;
* After a year of First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation instruction, our second graders will make their First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 1.  First Holy Communion shows us the "greatest expression of God";
* 6th & 7th Grade Confirmation will be on Wednesday, April 27.  They shall be "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and strengthened for service to the Body of Christ;
* Middle School Pilgrimage to Chimayo, New Mexico, April 18-20.  "Pilgrims are sojourners -- travelers on a quest of faith. Each of us is invited to a path of renewal and redemption, following after Jesus Christ. This is the path of the pilgrim." - Rev. James Conley
* May Crowning
* Final All-School Rosary for the year.
Education: Assisting parents to form their children in academic and moral excellence, in a safe and caring environment.
* All students progress in academic achievement by one-grade level;
* Students and parents will be provided a 2015-2016 Student Assessment Summary showing testing growth for the year;
* Fine Arts Night;
* 8th Grade Exit Portfolios;
* 8th Grade Graduation.
Service: Building a foundation for students to use their God-given talents with courage to truly better the lives of others.
* Student Council will collect the hotel toiletries to be delivered to the Samaritan House at the end of May;
* Mrs.Jung and the art students will make clay soup bowls and hold the soup night with proceeds going to feed the poor at the St. Elizabeth soup kitchen;
* Final Box Top Free Dress Day.
Believing in nurturing the whole child, and the accomplishment of actually nurturing the whole child should leave us in awe.  The wonderment is this life experienced by the child!
Thank you for all you do to support your children and the school program!

O God, Holy Spirit, Whose breath gives life to the world and Whose voice is heard in the soft breeze, we need Your strength and wisdom.  Come to us and among us; Come as the wind and cleanse us.  We join with Your Creation and with each other.  Amen.
