Dear Parents,
I hope this note finds you and yours well and feeling the happiness of warm spring days! Once again this year, our Middle School students attended the Denver Metro Regional Science and Engineering Fair where 8th grader Connor placed First in Junior Biochemistry for the second year in a row. The title of Connor's experiment was, "Vitamin C in Cooked Vegetables." Based on his win, Connor advanced to the 61st Annual Colorado Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF) held at CSU in Ft. Collins last week. At the state competition, Connor received the CSU Department of Chemistry Excellence in Chemistry Award and $100. We are not only proud of all of our students, but we are also especially proud of Ms. Katy Glennon for being an extraordinary science teacher. Katy Glennon, happily shared, "CSU college students were asking Connor about cell respiration. They had trouble understanding the concept and Connor was happy to explain it to them."
We are also proud of all of our 7th graders who did very well at the Archdiocesan Speech Association 7th Grade Trophy Meet this past Saturday. Congratulations to all of our budding orators: Calvin Hamilton (humor), Asia Velasquez (poetry), Solomon Mejia (oratory), Bang Malual (oratory), Wilson Rhead (impromptu), John Vogt (original speechmaking), Laila Ridel (drama), Dawit Gabremarian (humor), Jackson Overton (drama), and Aku Unvu (poetry).
Congratulations to the following trophy winners:
* Laila Riedell, 4th place trophy in drama category with her speech from the opening scene of The Secret Life of Bees;
* Dawit Gebremariam, 4th place trophy in humor category with his speech about Ariel the fairy warrior from The Wednesday Wars;
* Aku Unvu, 6th place trophy in poetry category with her oral interpretation of poems by Nikki Giovanni and Maya Angelou.
We invite everyone to participate in the Middle School Writing Portfolios "Open Edits" on April 28. This event takes place throughout the school day. Parent participants review the students' writing portfolios and provide written feedback for the student, and rate the quality of the work, in order to elevate the writer's experience and writing skills. The culminating 8th Grade event is the 8th Grade Exit Presentations and Interviews on Tuesday, May 24. This event showcases the culminating project. Students present a topic of choice with elements demonstrating the level of achievement they experienced throughout their BSCS education.
All are welcome! Come see how extraordinary these kids are.
God Bless you and your beautiful children, Carla

Weekly Prayer - Amina Christi
|
Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from Christ's side, wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Suffer me not to be separated from Thee
From the malicious enemy defend me
In the hour of my death call me
And bid me come unto Thee
That I may praise Thee with Thy saints
and with Thy angels
Forever and ever
Amen
