Dear Parents,
On behalf of the Blessed Sacrament staff, I hope you have a wonderful Easter and a safe and enjoyable spring break!
We are so pleased to have your children as students at our school. Each week, I am in awe of the learning that I witness when I visit classrooms. I am aware that this isn't the first time I've written about this, but it is perpetual. I was recently at an education event for school leaders (public and private). I was describing to a group of school leaders what takes place in BSCS classrooms. One school principal asked me where I found the time to observe each week. I explained that even though school leaders have a myriad of things to do each day, the sheer enjoyment and enthusiasm I get from being in classrooms is rewarding.
Enough about what I get out of it, how about the students and teachers?
- Teachers and students know that I care deeply about the learning and instruction that is taking place.
- Teachers don't have to wait for their formal observations for a visit.
- Students are excited to share their learning with me.
- Teachers feel comfortable and welcoming.
- Lessons in both grade-level classrooms are consistent and in content, yet teachers bring their own autonomy and talents to their lessons.
How do parents benefit?
- Wonderful lessons and activities are shared with you...think of it as "virtual reality" J.
- If you are concerned, I have my own observational information on lessons and activities.
Some of the things that were taking place this week that I am happy to write about:
- 5th graders were engaged in a complicated math lesson.
- 4th graders were learning about electrical circuits, and in groups, students built circuits.
- 3rd grade is learning the scientific method and are going on a campus "field trip" to test out their hypothesis.
- 1st graders are studying the solar system and making planets with modge-podge covered balloons.
- Kindergarteners were working on their weekly spelling words.
- 1st graders were in an intense game of capture the flag, when in art, they were working on their projects for the Big Event.
- Preschoolers were in the library hanging onto every word of the story Ms. K. was reading to them.
- While on the way to music class, one of our 2nd graders asked me to join the class. She and I walked in together and I followed the children as they were engaged in the lesson's warm-up activity.
As you can see, the formal evaluation process gives me, the students, teachers, and you an opportunity to enjoy classroom experiences for the enjoyment and joy of learning.
Happy Easter and thank you for choosing BSCS!

Loving God, you have heard my complaints, my impatience. Sometimes I become frightened when I move away from you.
Guide my heart back to you.
Help me to think beyond my own wants and to desire only to do your will.
Thank you for the many blessings in my life and for the ways I feel your presence. Amen.
