Dear Parents,
I sincerely hope you and your family enjoyed the Labor Day weekend as much as I did, and that you are rested and ready for September and all it brings!
As most of you know, I spend a great deal of time in classrooms. Frankly, this is the most enjoyable part of my day! Last week was no exception to the wonderful learning activities that I saw taking place in our classrooms.
It would take pages to write about all 33 classrooms, so I want to highlight a few:
- Preschoolers were learning to be independent thinkers, to respect their classmates, and to share.
- Second graders were listening to their classmates read stories they wrote. Each student was to actively listen for the adjectives used and when called on, provide the ones they heard.
- Fourth graders were learning to construct paragraphs with proper formatting.
- In Entrepreneurial Business, Middle School students were learning about product design prior to bringing a product to market. Students worked in teams to design rockets. Once completed, they tested their products under the supervision of Ms. Glennon. The activity ended with an analysis of the product and if it was market worthy.
My invitation to you - visit classrooms to witness and experience the high-level of teaching and learning that takes place each and every day - still stands. Please join me!
I would like to end with the prayer below that I recited at last week's PTSA meeting.
God Bless to you and your wonderful children,
Carla
A Parent's Prayer
Loving God,
You are the giver of all we possess, the source of all of our blessings.
We thank and praise you.
Thank you for the gift of our children.
Help us to set boundaries for them, and yet encourage them to explore.
Give us the strength and courage to treat each day as a fresh start.
May our children come to know you, the one true God, and Jesus, whom you have sent.
May your Holy Spirit help them to grow in faith, hope, and love, so they may know peace, truth, and goodness.
May their ears hear your voice.
May their eyes see your presence in all things.
May their lips proclaim your work.
May their hearts be your dwelling place.
May their hands do works of charity.
May their feet walk in the way of Jesus Christ, your Son and our Lord.
Amen.
