Greetings!

Hi-Tech has added ICD-10 capability with Release 14.03. This week we will notify Update Contacts to download this Release.

You will not submit these codes in billing claims or MDS records until October 1, 2014; however, you can begin now to research the ICD-10 codes that will replace your resident's ICD-9 codes.

After your Hi-Tech System has been updated to Release 14.03, access instructions on ICD-10 functionality by clicking Update Memos on the Hi-Tech menu. Select Release 14.03.

On Friday, March 7, we emailed an invitation to two sessions of the Webinar: ICD-10 Functionality within the Hi-Tech System.
  • Friday, March 21, 11-11:45 am
  • Tuesday, March 25, 2-2:45 pm
If you did not receive an invitation, and you want to attend this Webinar, please contact Webinars@Hi-TechSoftware.com.

IMPORTANT: Both sessions cover the same content. If you register for both sessions, you will receive a confirmation for
each session. When you join the Webinar, you must use the registration link provided for that session.

Hi-Tech recommends that you attend ICD-10 training offered by your state government or long term care association.
Hi-One: Hi-Tech ICD-10 Capability Includes GEM Feature
Release 14.03 will provide ICD-10 General Equivalency Mapping (GEM) that will help you discover possible replacement codes for current ICD-9 codes.

IMPORTANT: Research the equivalent codes before saving them in your residents' records.
  • We urge you to attend ICD-10 training so that you understand the ICD-10 coding structure.
  • We recommend that you seek coding guidance from qualified coders.
  • Hi-Tech will not provide automatic selection or coding guidance.
Hi-Two: Access Resident Notes from Resident Accounting Menu
Release 14.03 adds Edit Notes to the Resident Accounting > Admission Procedures menu. You can still add and access Notes though Edit Medical Record. When you add Notes related to billing, select Type: Face Sheet.

Find instructions on Notes on our website at www.Hi-TechSoftware.com > Clients > Important Instructions, under Webinars: Resident Electronic Notes.

Hi-Three: Payroll Allows you to Void a Direct Deposit Check File
With Release 14.03 we have added the ability to create a VOID direct deposit file in case you sent a file with errors to the bank.  To use this feature, verify the following:
  • You have an agreement with your bank to send credit and debit transactions for adjustments.
  • Your employee agreements allow for credit and debit transactions.
Please contact Hi-Tech Support for assistance if you need to use this feature.

Hi-Four: MDS Modification Requests Allow Access to A2300

With Release 14.03, when you create a Modification Request record through Edit MDS, you can access and change A2300 Assessment Reference Date.

When you modify an MDS, this will no longer clear electronic signatures in V0200, Z0400, or Z0500 of the original MDS.

Hi-Five: The Maine MDS-RCA

If you submit a Maine Residential Care Assessment (MDS-RCA) with an incorrect Assessment Date or Reason for Assessment, you cannot correct this information through the Modification process. Instead, you must inactivate the incorrect assessment and submit a new corrected assessment.

Use the following inactivation process:

  1. Create a new assessment with the correct Assessment Date and Reason for Assessment.
Use the incorrect assessment as the default assessment so you can copy in the responses to complete the new assessment.
  2. Inactivate the incorrect assessment within Hi-Tech.
  3. Submit the Inactivation record.
  4. Submit the new assessment.

Click here more information on the requirements for inactivating a Maine MDS-RCA.
