Message from the CEO...

"We live, in our sliver of contested land, in a region where Islamic extremism, notably right now in Iraq and Syria, departs ever further from the framework of humanity. We strive to retain our stability, our democracy, our resilience. We count our true friends on the fingers of one hand. And we brace for the worst, while hoping against hope that those astounding, inspirational parents will be vindicated in their optimism."

This past Sunday and Monday, more than 70 people throughout North America and Israel came to Delaware for the Negev Conference: Shaping The Future Together, which Federation proudly hosted at the Siegel JCC. The conference was convened by the Negev Work Group and Negev Funding Coalition of the Jewish Federations of North America, established to evaluate the most effective ways in which the North American Jewish community can contribute to the development and advancement of the Negev. We acknowledge Robin Karol-Eng, Negev Funding Coalition Chair and Toni Young for their vision and leadership.

On Monday, the JCC Sports Classic was held at the Wilmington Country Club. Yasher Koach to Chairs, Richard Levine and Dan Klein, and all involved in making this annual event an overwhelming success. The Siegel JCC is a valued beneficiary agency of Federation.

Our 2013-2014 Report to the Community highlighting the myriad achievements and accomplishments was distributed at the Annual Meeting, however, a digital e-dition can be downloaded here. Special thanks to Highmark Delaware for generously underwriting the printing of this report, saving critical community dollars.

The story of Federation's success is told not only by dollars raised but by lives changed; by realities improved and hopes restored. Every day, Federation makes our community and the world a better place by acting on our shared Jewish values of caring and compassion (chesed), facilitating Jewish learning (Torah), repairing the world (tikkun olam) and social justice (tzedakah).

TOGETHER We Are Federation.
