This past Sunday morning, a number of families came out for our annual Shalom Baby program in the Siegel JCC Early Childhood Center. It was a great way for young families to meet, network and participate in Jewish Life. Special thanks to our Chalom Baby Co-Chairs Karen Legum and Wendy Ufberg as well as ECC Director, Mona Duwell, for being our PJ LIbrary storyteller. Interested parents can contact Julie James at 302-394-9058 or Julie@ShalomDel.org to learn more about this wonderful program.

In commemoration of Yom HaShoah and Yom Hazikaron, Federation beneficiary agency, University of Delaware Hillel, coordinated a week-long Holocaust Remembrance Week. For the entire week,  1,200 colored flags were displayed on campus. Each colored flag represented a population targeted in the Holocaust. The Kristol Center for Jewish Life at University of Delaware (UD Hillel) is the focal point of Jewish student community on campus. With 2000 Jewish students on campus - 10% of the undergraduate population - our Hillel Foundation works hard to pave the way for students to have meaningful Jewish experiences.

In celebration of Israel@66, Federation sponsored the the Delaware premiere screening of the Israeli film, Hunting Elephants, on Tuesday evening in the Siegel JCC auditorium. This free and community-wide event attracted a great turnout for a very entertaining film.

Paradigm Shift
The New Highly Acclaimed JLI Course endorsed by Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks and Elie Weisel
Classes Begin Wednesday, March 14th

CHABAD of DE will present Paradigm Shift: Transformational Life Teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, a new six-session course by the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute. The course will be offered in conjunction with the marking of 20 years since the passing of "the Rebbe," Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson of righteous memory. The Rebbe was a visionary religious leader who inspired countless individuals during his lifetime and established a global network of educational, social, and religious institutions to revive the post-holocaust Jewish landscape.

Paradigm Shift will be offered in Wilmington over six Wednesdays at 12:15pm and again at 7:45pm beginning May 14, 2014. The course will explore Rabbi Schneerson's philosophy and outlook, offering participants the chance to see things from a radically different perspective.

Paradigm Shift is a monumental contribution to the Rebbe's legacy--the product of a collaboration of over two dozen experts on Rabbi Schneerson's teachings. It addresses questions such as: What were the Rebbe's central teachings and contributions to Judaism and society? What was his understanding of the human being and what were his hopes for humanity? What stands behind the continued success of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement? And how can we apply these insights toward living a more purposeful life? "We all want to live up to our inherent design, to make the best of the unique set of skills and circumstances that we were given," said Rabbi Chuni Vogel, "and Paradigm Shift is the first step; it's about visualizing what is possible and seeing how you can make it a reality."

Like all JLI programs, Paradigm Shift is designed to appeal to people at all levels of Jewish knowledge, including those without any prior experience or background in Jewish learning. All JLI courses are open to the public, and attendees need not be affiliated with a particular synagogue or temple.
