Message from the CEO...

Greetings!,

This past Sunday, our Emerging Leadership Project (ELP) participants met with Holocaust survivor, Ann Jaffe, who shared her personal story and experiences surviving the Holocaust. Later that afternoon Federation and Conversations For Peace co-sponsored the screening of, Two Sided Story, as part of the WilmFilm Festival. The theater was at-capacity and concluded with an interactive post-screening dialogue facilitated by Michael Sigman.

Our community Yom HaShoah program was held on Monday in the Carvel State Office Building in downtown Wilmington. Special thanks to the Halina Wind Preston Holocaust Education Committee, under the leadership of Regina Kerr Alonzo and Steve Gonzer, and Delaware Rabbis and Cantors (DERECH) for sponsoring this interfaith public commemoration.

Yesterday we went to press on the May issue of the Jewish VOICE which will be in your mailboxes by early next week. You can view the digital version here. This is our Israel issue in celebration of Yom Ha'Atzmaut and Israel's 66th Anniversary.

Please join us for Federation's annual Shalom Baby Event is this Sunday in the Early Childhood Center (ECC) main lobby beginning at 9:30am. Paradigm Shift
The New Highly Acclaimed JLI Course endorsed by Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks and Elie Weisel
Classes Begin Wednesday, March 14th

CHABAD of DE will present Paradigm Shift: Transformational Life Teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, a new six-session course by the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute. The course will be offered in conjunction with the marking of 20 years since the passing of "the Rebbe," Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson of righteous memory. The Rebbe was a visionary religious leader who inspired countless individuals during his lifetime and established a global network of educational, social, and religious institutions to revive the post-holocaust Jewish landscape.

Paradigm Shift will be offered in Wilmington over six Wednesdays at 12:15pm and again at 7:45pm beginning May 14, 2014. The course will explore Rabbi Schneerson's philosophy and outlook, offering participants the chance to see things from a radically different perspective.

Paradigm Shift is a monumental contribution to the Rebbe's legacy--the product of a collaboration of over two dozen experts on Rabbi Schneerson's teachings. It addresses questions such as: What were the Rebbe's central teachings and contributions to Judaism and society? What was his understanding of the human being and what were his hopes for humanity? What stands behind the continued success of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement? And how can we apply these insights toward living a more purposeful life? "We all want to live up to our inherent design, to make the best of the unique set of skills and circumstances that we were given," said Rabbi Chuni Vogel, "and Paradigm Shift is the first step; it's about visualizing what is possible and seeing how you can make it a reality."

Like all JLI programs, Paradigm Shift is designed to appeal to people at all levels of Jewish knowledge, including those without any prior experience or background in Jewish learning. All JLI courses are open to the public, and attendees need not be affiliated with a particular synagogue or temple.
