Message from the CEO...

Greetings!,

This past Sunday, more than 100 community members gathered at Young, Conaway, Stargatt & Taylor for our L'Chaim Circle Celebration. Thank you to our donors who have supported Jewish Federation of Delaware for 25 years or more. We appreciate the leadership of Lelaine and Stuart Nemser for serving as our Co-Chairs as well as the Federation staff for coordinating this special event.

Jewish Community Relations Committee (JCRC) Chair, John Elzufon, presented, "The Blossoming of Israel" on Tuesday evening for the People To People Delaware Chapter at Cokesbury Village in Hockessin. Community Shaliach, Adir Ben Tovim, also participated in the question and answer session that was attended by more than 100 people. The JCRC serves as the public arm of Jewish Federation of Delaware.

Federation coordinated a special program for teens and parents on Wednesday evening at the Siegel JCC with Licensed Psychologist, Sam Blumberg, who had a candid and timely conversation on Teen Suicide Prevention. The program was attended by nearly 70 area teens and their parents.

I had the pleasure of attending beneficiary agency, Albert Einstein Academy's Model Seder on Thursday morning. It was a wonderful experience seeing the students, teachers, parents and grandparents together and celebrating Passover. Yasher Koach to Head of School Jeremy Winaker and the dedicated teachers as well as the many volunteers.

Our Allocations Committee met last night to review additional presentations and requests. We sincerely appreciate Allocations Committee Co-Chairs, Robin Kauffman Saran and Bill Wagner, for their leadership as well as the Committee who will ultimately make final recommendations to the Federation Board in late-May.

Later this morning I will be meeting with the Executive Directors of our five beneficiary agencies as part of our ongoing Agency Roundtable meetings. Scheduling ongoing discussions improved inter-agency communications as well as opportunities for greater collaboration and partnership.

This Shabbat, Community Shaliach Adir Ben Tovim will be visiting with Congregation Beth Sholom in Dover. Thanks to Rabbi Peggy deProphetis and President Cindy Konowitz for their warm hospitality and support.

TOGETHER We Do Extraordinary Things.

Shabbat Shalom,
