Thank you to the hundreds of community members who attended
Federation Shabbat last Friday at Congregation Beth Shalom. From the interactive
PJ Library program to the delicious and festive dinner to the wonderful participatory service, it was certainly a shabbat to remember. All Delaware synagogues from Rehoboth Beach, Dover, Newark and Wilmington were in attendance as well as our beneficiary agency leadership. It was truly wonderful to see everyone come together as one community!
SUPER SUNDAY, Federation's largest fundraising day of the year, was held last week with an amazing response from community volunteers and donors. Thanks to those who made the call and others who answered the call, our community raised $265,000 to the 2014 Annual Campaign. Thanks again to Super Sunday Co-Chairs, Linda & Michael Sigman and Pam & Brian Appelbaum for their inspired leadership.

On Monday, survivors and Israeli officials marked 69 years since the liberation of the Nazi Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp in Poland. The UN established International Holocaust Remembrance Day in memory of some 6 million Holocaust victims, and some 1.5 million victims of Auschwitz, who were mostly Jews. We say to the souls of those our people lost in Europe's dark night: we will never forget you, we will never cease to mourn you, we will not let you down, until Jews can walk the world without fear, witnesses against those who choose death, to the God of life who told us: "Choose life." (Rabbi Jonathan Sacks at the National Holocaust Memorial Commemoration Ceremony in Hyde Park, London in May 2011). Did you know that

Federation's "
Roots In Arad" appeal raises funds to purchase fruit trees that will be planted in our
Partnership2Gether city of Arad. This is the first time that fruit trees will be planted in our sister city and ask the community to support this initiative. Please

Earlier this week we went to press with the February 2014 edition of the
