Message from the CEO...

Greetings!,

WE DID IT! Thanks to you and the generous support of our vibrant community, Jewish Federation of Delaware met its 2013 Annual Campaign fundraising goal on Tuesday and will be able to honor the allocation commitments to our local, national and international agencies and partners. Thank you for reaffirming your commitment to helping those less fortunate than yourselves and providing Jewish gateways for culture, education and a sense of belonging.

Thanks to you we will ensure that our local beneficiary agencies (Albert Einstein Academy, Jewish Family Services of Delaware, The Kutz Home, Siegel JCC and University of Delaware Hillel) continue to receive financial resources and support. The Annual Campaign also supports BBYO and Jewish teen education programs. Federation programs such as Jewish Community Relations Committee (JCRC), Shalom Baby, Young Leadership and the Emerging Leadership Project (ELP) will continue to flourish. Our monthly publication, the Jewish VOICE, will also benefit from your support.

In Israel, the Annual Campaign helps fund Partnership2Gether and our community connection with Arad, the Youth Outreach Center in Arad, the Ethiopian National Project (ELP) and the Negev Funding Coalition. We also support the Jewish Agency for Israel, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and World ORT. From around the corner or around the world, Federation is there.

Please join me on Tuesday, January 7th at 7:30pm for our second VOICES FOR ISRAEL collaboration with Adas Kodesch Shel Emeth featuring David Brog, Executive Director of Christians United For Israel (CUFI). Please see flyer below for more information.

TOGETHER We Do Extraordinary Things.

Roots In Arad - One Tree at a Time

Federation's Special Tu B'Shevat Appeal

"When I came into this world, I found a carob tree that others had planted for me.

Just as my ancestors planted for me, I plant this tree for my descendants."

Strengthen your roots with Israel this Tu B'Shevat, both spiritually and physically, by donating a fruit tree to be planted in our sister city of Arad.

Your fruit tree will help bring beauty and new life to the Northern Park of Arad. With each donation you will receive a picture of your tree with a plaque honoring your deeply rooted connection to the land of Israel and our bonds with Arad.

Donations of $72 per tree can be made online at ShalomDelaware.org/AradRoots or by calling 302.427.2100

The Blossoming of Israel
People to People Delaware Presentation

7:00 PM
Cokesbury Village, Main Auditorium

The Israel that the News Ignores

Presented by John Elzufon:

"There's been nothing like it in human history. A small and ancient people loses its land and forgets how to speak its language; wanders defenselessly for hundreds, thousands, of years throughout the world with its God and its sacred books; meets with persecution, violence, dispossession, banishment, mass murder; refuses to give up; refuses to surrender its faith; continues to believe that it will one day be restored to the land it lost; manages in the end, by dint of its own efforts, against all odds, to gather itself from the four corners of the earth and return to that land; learns again to speak the language of its old books; learns again to bear arms and defend itself; wrests its new-old home from the people who had replaced it; entrenches itself; builds; fructifies; fortifies; repulses the enemies surrounding it; grows and prospers in the face of all threats."

Please join People to People Delaware for a 30-45 minute presentation on Israel's agricultural developments, medical & IT technologies, social aspects, diversity, education, culture, religious expression, and form of government/democracy.

Question & answer session to follow as well as light refreshments.
