Message from the CEO...

Greetings!,

Good Morning.

Our Community Journey to Israel participants returned early Wednesday morning after what has been referred to as the Trip of a Lifetime. From visiting our Partnership2Gether community of Arad to experiencing Tel Aviv, Haifa and Jerusalem and culminating with the General Assembly, we forged stronger bonds to our spiritual homeland as well as with each other. Please visit our Community Journey to Israel blog and look for photographs and an article in the December issue of the Jewish VOICE. Special thanks again to our co-chairs, Lisa Dadone-Weiner and Henry Weiner.

On Saturday night, the Kutz Home Auxiliary is having their Forget-Me-Not Gala. Please contact Iris Vinokur for more information. Federation's Young Leadership Division is also having a Progressive Dinner on Saturday evening as well. Please contact Julie James for more information.

The first of our three-part Voices For Israel series begins on Monday, November 18th at 7:30p.m at Adas Kodesch Shel Emeth featuring Major Elliot Chodoff (IDF Reserves), a political and military analyst specializing in the Middle East conflict and the global war on terrorists, will address "Strategic Threats Facing Israel". This series is co-sponsored by Federation and AKSE and is free and open to the community.

Shabbat Shalom,

Jewish Federations of North America
GA 2013 / November 10th-12th

The GA inspired and engaged current and emerging Jewish leaders, tackled the most critical issues of the day, and showcased the best of the Federation movement. This year, the event was held in Jerusalem to celebrate Israel's 65th birthday and the unmatched partnership between the Federations and the State of Israel. The Jewish Federations have been meeting at General Assemblies for over 80 years to network, learn from each other and interface with world leaders. The program featured themes that are timely and highly relevant to the Jewish community.

But the GA was more than workshops and addresses by world leaders. It was a chance for members of the Jewish community to come together, spend time with old friends and colleagues, and connect with new ones.

The GA brought together over 3,000 influential decision-makers from communities around the US, Canada, Israel and around the world.

National Donor Sabbath
November 15th-17th

More than 114,700 people across the United States, including more than 6,500 people in the region are listed for an organ transplant on the national organ transplant waiting list with thousands more waiting corneal and tissue transplants

Join faith-based organizations across the country this Sabbath (Nov. 15-17) in celebrating National Donor Sabbath. This is a time for all people, of all faiths, to honor those who have given the lifesaving gift of organ, eye and tissue donation. Faith plays a significant role in the decision to register as a donor. All major religions support organ, eye and tissue donation, and believe it to be a final act of kindness and generosity. People of all faiths and denominations are encouraged to register as donors. More information about National Donor Sabbath can be found at NationalDonorSabbath2013.gov.
