Shabbat for 100 attendees
|
This past Shabbat, more than 100 young adults throughout our community gathered at nine host homes to participate in Federation's inaugural Shabbat for 100. The evening provided a platform to engage young adults in a meaningful and memorable way. Special thanks to our hosts who opened up their homes and provided the Shabbat dinners.
We also welcome back our AIPAC Delaware delegation who spent the early part of the week in Washington D.C. attending the AIPAC Policy Conference. More than 13,000 people including 30 Delawareans attended this year's conference.

An Evening of Comedy with Rabbi Bob Alper
Saturday, March 23rd 7:00 PM
Congregation Beth Shalom
Rabbi Bob Alper is the world's only practicing rabbi doing stand-up comedy...intentionally. There's a reason why XM/Sirius satellite radio plays Rabbi Bob Alper's bits several times daily, often sandwiched between Bob Newhart and Bill Cosby. For one, his unique background. As an ordained rabbi with a doctorate from Princeton Theological Seminary, he has served congregations for fourteen years, which has prepared him well for a twenty-three year comedy career with wonderfully unique material presented in a way that's intelligent, sophisticated, and 100% clean.

What's Jewish About Breast and Ovarian Cancer? Sunday, March 24th 9:00 - 10:30 AM Congregation Beth Emeth Please join us for a very important presentation on genetic risk factors for breast and ovarian cancer. One in 40 Ashkenazi Jews carries a gene mutation that causes a drastically increased risk for these cancers. Our speakers will be Stephanie Kaplan, a member of Kesher Israel in West Chester, PA, and Rebecca Mueller, a genetic counselor from the University of Pennsylvania. Stephanie discovered that she has this gene mutation, which led her to make some very difficult decisions to protect her health. There is no charge for this program. A Kosher-style breakfast will be available for purchase at the Kishka Café. Register by emailing Laurie Ross at rossle@comcast.net.
