NEWS & NOTES
Federation's weekly e-news to keep you informed, inspired and connected to Jewish life in Delaware and the Brandywine Valley.

Message from the CEO...

Greetings!

This past Sunday I had the pleasure of attending a morning session with
ELP participants with Senator Chris Coons
our Emerging Leadership Project (ELP) participants at the home of Kate and Bob Pincus. The group learned about Israel advocacy as well as having a chance to hear from United States Senator, Christopher Coons. Hearing Bob's and Senator Coon's personal stories provided an inside look at how two community leaders' passions and determination led to their respective success and ongoing support in building community.

On Wednesday night, the Siegel JCC hosted comedian Judy Gold with more than 100 people in attendance. Special thanks to Josh Schoenberg for moderating the Q&A after the performance.

With the strength of a people and the power of community, we are Improving Our World...TOGETHER.

SHABBAT for 100
Friday, March 1st
Various Homes throughout the Community

Federation's Young Leadership Division's Shabbat for 100 is matching hosts with guests for shared Shabbat meals across Delaware and the Brandywine Valley.  "A shared Shabbat meal is one of the best ways to get to know other people, and opening your home to people you may or may not know on Shabbat is a long-held Jewish tradition" says Adriana Mann, who is helping to plan this event for the first time, along with Jennifer Steinberg, Gina Schoenberg and Karen Legum.  "When we share a meal with new people around a familiar ritual, we already feel that we share something with them innate to being Jewish - the conversation flows easier, and the connections we make feel closer."

Shabbat for 100 will take place in homes around the community and across communal boundaries as well.  The hosts are not only people with a connection to YLD, but also people involved with Adas Kodesch Shel Emeth, Albert Einstein Academy, Beth Shalom Congregation, Chabad Lubavitch of Delaware, Congregation Beth Emeth, Hillel, Siegel JCC and Temple Beth El of Newark.  Meals range from potluck to fully prepared dinners, and there are hosts that can accommodate all kinds of kashrut needs and vegetarian eaters.

To register as a guest for Shabbat for 100, click here. Please register by February 22.  There is no cost to attend.
