Greetings! |
There was a recent study completed about happiness. The results were that when folks demonstrated gratitude, they were happier in their lives. Instead of being a person who complains in a society that is fixed on a culture of complaining, be a person who is thankful and expresses gratitude to the people who have invested in you.
In Solidarity!

Oct. 15: Essay Competition for Book Scholarship | The Student Life Multicultural Center's Women's Initiatives is hosting an essay competition on women's issues and initiatives. We encourage undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to participate and let their voices be heard through written word. All essay submissions should address one of the following questions and contain 500-700 words with appropriate grammar and style.
1) Based on the historical and contemporary cultural context of women in the United States, what would it take to see a woman elected as President?
2) In local, state, and national arenas, legislation centering on women's issues is at the forefront, what is your opinion on recent policy decisions made about women's bodies?
3) What are issues that women currently face on college campuses, and how can these campuses address these issues?
After the deadline, all essays will be read and evaluated, and a committee will select three winners: one to receive $500, one to receive $250, and one to receive $150 in book scholarships. Please send any questions and submissions to Dr. Patricia Cunningham.212 by October 15th with your name and .# in the header of the document.
Scholarship winners will be honored at the first annual Scholarship Soiree for Women, held in the Kuhn Honors and Scholars House on October 24th from 7-8:30 pm. The event will celebrate the winners, and feature food from Freedom a la Cart, a local catering initiative working with survivors of human trafficking.
