The PTSA Awards Committee is requesting nominations for the Mannie Award, the Golden Acorn Award and Outstanding Educator Award. Please take a few minutes to help us recognize our exceptional educators and volunteers by clicking here to tell us who has impressed you this year with their hard work and dedication! These awards will be presented at our Volunteer Tea on Thursday, June 9 at 3:15 pm at Horace Mann. Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, May 24. Thanks!
Only 10 School Days Left Until the 
World of Fun Carnival!  

The school year is very quickly drawing to a close (where did the time go?) and that means the World of Fun carnival is also drawing near! We are still looking for families who want to share their home country with the Mann community on June 3 - please take a moment to fill out this FORM and turn it in at the office. Currently we have Japan, India, China, The Netherlands, South Korea, Israel, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Egypt and South Africa - if yours is not listed - please sign up!

Not only will we have many cultures and countries represented in the International Carnival, but we'll also have traditional fun carnival games with prizes, delicious food, and so much more! Please check out the sign up genius and find out how you can help make the carnival amazing!
Field Day Volunteers Needed!

Help our entire school be active and have fun! Can you come and help out at this fun outdoor event? 15 volunteers are needed for Field Day on June 13, 1-3 pm. Adult volunteers will rove around to support the 5th grade station hosts and Mr. Billheimer as needed. Please signup here.

Horace Mann SBA Testing Schedule

Click here to see Horace Mann's SBA testing schedule for grades 3-5. The days have been color coded in an attempt to help you easily see what grade levels are testing. Please be sure to use this calendar to plan doctor appointments or vacations accordingly so that your child can be present for their test dates. Remind your child to get a good night of sleep, eat well and try their best.

This year Horace Mann hosted math contests with many participants and had several winners! Big congratulations to the following winners.

Spring Noetic Learning Math Contest:
Emma S. (2nd grader) - National Honor Roll
Annabel W. (3rd grader) - National Honor Roll
Dhruv K. (3rd grader) - National Honor Roll
 
Math Kangaroo Math Contest:
Dhruv K. (3rd grader) ranked 1st Nationally and State
Cynthia K. (3rd grader) ranked 7th Nationally      
Annabel W. (3rd grader) ranked 8th Nationally   
Robert K. (3rd grader) ranked 16th Nationally
 
Math Is Cool Contest:
Dhruv K. and Lance A. finished in the top 25 tier of the 4th grader division
Amit F. finished in the top 20 tier of the 5th grader division
 
*Awards or medals will be given out on June 10 at the Horace Mann Awards Ceremony during school.
Band Members
 
Congratulations to the First Year Band and the Second Year Advanced Band members for their outstanding and awesome performance at the Spring Concert. Ms. Berman and Mr. Furness are very proud of your accomplishments. It was very fun seeing the solos and small groups perform and then the full groups. It was a very fun night!
