Staff Appreciation

What an incredible week the Mann Staff had last week!!!! We all want to shout out a big THANK YOU to Nicci Isher for all her work in coordinating all the wonderful things we received during the week.

The Soup Bar on Monday was incredible. Fabulous soups made by our parents.  So delicious!!! Tuesday we were spoiled with yummy baked goods. Wednesday an amazing lunch, catered by Homegrown Restaurant in Redmond, was served!! What a treat. Thursday we got to enjoy wonderful fruit and vegetables brought in by our amazing parents. Friday a coffee cart came and made our favorite drink first thing in the morning. Thanks to all the parents that sponsored this.

We all appreciate our wonderful PTSA and parent community for making us feel "very appreciated." We really count it a privilege to be able to spend time with your children each and every day.
Letter from Miss Berman

Dear Horace Mann Community,

First of all, let me say how much I have loved being a part of the Colt community for the past two years. Working with your students and watching them grow as musicians has been incredible.

This summer, my husband and I will be relocating to Nashville, TN as he begins medical school at Vanderbilt University. We are very excited for this new adventure.

I will be staying in contact and can't wait to hear about all the amazing things that will continue to happen at Horace Mann next year. Thank you for all of your support of the music program here at Mann and for helping your kids grow as musicians.

All the best,
Mandy Azose (Miss Berman)

May 2016 Lake Washington Schools
Foundation News

THANK YOU! Thank you to our incredible community-you helped raise $270,000 and counting at the Spring for Learning luncheon and breakfast in April. Community supporters, including teachers, parents, and business leaders came out to hear the big dreams of LWSD students and joined in helping support those dreams.

Lake Washington High School student Jake Hanna shared his video and dream of becoming a filmmaker. Students in Mrs. Pomerinke's class at Evergreen Middle School shared their college plans and their work with AVID, a Foundation funded program. The featured speaker at the breakfast was Seattle Sounders Head Coach Sigi Schmid who spoke of his childhood as an immigrant and the teachers that inspired him growing up. Former Seattle Seahawk and NFL Hall of Famer Walter Jones talked at the luncheon about his dreams to be a professional football player with ESPN Senior NFL Writer and Analyst John Clayton. Both Mr. Jones and Mr. Schmid have family ties to the Lake Washington School District.

A special thank you to Dr. Traci Pierce for her inspirational speech on helping students in our district achieve success and the ability to follow their dreams.

The Foundation is expanding investments in district- wide programs in order to impact more students across our growing district. If you were unable to attend the spring events but would still like to support our students and teachers, click on this link to donate. Check out the 2016 event photos and the video here.
