2016-17 PTSA Board Nomination 
Deadline is Monday, March 21!

Do you and your kids like the after school classes, the art program and family activities like movie night, the dance, and science fair that are a part of Horace Mann? All of these activities and more are supported and/or run by the PTSA. We need you to keep these programs running smoothly and keep our school great!
 
The PTSA Nominating Committee is seeking volunteers who would like to take an active role in leading the PTSA as members of the PTSA Board for the 2016-17 school year. The positions are: 
 
   ● Co-President
● Co-VP of Fundraising
● Co-VP of Art
   ● Co-Treasurer
● Co-VP of Enrichment
● Secretary
   ● Co-VP of Volunteers/School Services
 
This is a great way to support your child's education and get to know other parents at the school.
 
Nominate someone you know or you can nominate yourself! You may download a copy of the form from the PTSA website here.
You must be a PTSA member to be eligible to serve on the Board. Please submit forms to the office or by email to any member of the nominating committee listed below.

YEARBOOK PHOTO DEADLINE IS NOW!!

If you have any photos you would like to submit to be used in the yearbook you must submit them NOW! The deadline for photos is TODAY! We still need photos from almost all the classrooms, first day of school, all school events: spooghetti feed, concerts, movie night, awards ceremonies, assemblies, etc.

Science Fair Registration Deadline is March 25!

Science Fair registration deadline is fast approaching. You don't want to miss signing up your kids for this fantastic and education event. We want your little scientists to present her or his findings by participating in this educational and fun event. Sign up here.
Spring Quarter After School Enrichment Enrollment Begins March 28
Enrollment for the spring quarter After School Enrichment classes will begin March 28. This quarter, past favorites including coding, chess, Spanish, tennis and art will return. In addition, we are introducing new classes, including Legos, basketball, cheer, outdoor explorations-which is returning from last year-and a course that will give budding writers a chance to create their own book. Science Fair 2016 is here!!

The amazing Horace Mann Science Fair is here!! Come and learn all kinds of science facts. Explore demos presented by local volunteers. This year's demos include lung function, LEGO MINDSTORM, watercolor techniques, 3D printing, puzzles, magnetism and interesting facts about how little scientists can change the world.
   
This fair is not just for people interested in science, this event is for everyone who wants to come and spend a fun evening with family. This event is on March 31 from 6 to 8 pm and it's totally free! Food will be available for purchase, it will be taco Tuesday, on a Thursday!!! Please volunteer with us. We need help with sign ups, clean up, and making this event a success. Volunteer sign up here.
Noetic Learning Math Contest

Priority registration for Horace Mann Students starts now!
Contest Date:  April 13, 5:15pm at Horace Mann
Cost:  $10
Limited number of seats, so sign up early. Register here.

Parent Input Forms
 
Staff have begun initial planning for the 2016-17 school year. Parents have an opportunity to share their input on the best educational setting for their child by completing a Parent Input Form. These forms can be picked up in the main office and must be returned by Friday, April 29, for the input to be considered for next year. The due date is firm since planning will start in May.
Lake Washington Schools Foundation

The Lake Washington School District is a place of big dreams! This is also a place where hard work paves the way for those dreams to come true. Join us to support the dreams of our students. This year the Foundation is hosting two events, a luncheon on April 20 and a breakfast on April 27, to make it easier for supporters to find a time to join us.

This is the Lake Washington Schools Foundation's biggest fundraiser of the year. It helps the Foundation fund programs that make a difference for students, teachers and schools. Together, we can help every student succeed, from pre-K to high school, from Juanita to Sammamish!

The Foundation is still in need of Table Captains for this event. If you are passionate about our schools and want to help bridge the gap for our students, please consider being a Table Captain and inviting friends and colleagues to join you at one or both events!
