2016-17 PTSA Board Nomination
Deadline is Monday, March 21!
Do you and your kids like the after school classes, the art program and family activities like movie night, the dance, and science fair that are a part of Horace Mann? All of these activities and more are supported and/or run by the PTSA. We need you to keep these programs running smoothly and keep our school great!
The PTSA Nominating Committee is seeking volunteers who would like to take an active role in leading the PTSA as members of the PTSA Board for the 2016-17 school year. The positions are:

This is a great way to support your child's education and get to know other parents at the school.
Nominate someone you know, or you can nominate yourself! You may download a copy of the form from the PTSA website here. You must be a PTSA member to be eligible to serve on the Board. Please submit forms to the office or by email to any member of the nominating committee listed below.

Classified Appreciation Week
March 14 - 18 is CLASSIFIED APPRECIATION WEEK. This is a week to recognize the hard work of our secretaries, custodians and aides. Please take a moment to thank these wonderful staff members this week. Mann would not run smoothly without the hard work and care of these essential staff members. Thank you!

Mann PTSA Annual School Dance
Round up your family and join us for the Boot Scootin' Boogie!!!
This week, your student may come home from school excited for the school dance on Friday, March 18 - and that's because ALL WEEK they will be receiving dance instruction in both their P.E. and music classes specifically so they can dance and have fun at the school dance! Doors open at 6 pm at the gym - please enter through those doors - and the dance will run from 6:30 pm - 8 pm. Presale flyer can be found here!

Science Fair Registration is Open!
Science Fair date: March 31, 2016
Time: 6 pm - 8 pm
Place: Horace Mann Elementary
Are your kids curious about how things work? Are they curious about how the lungs distribute oxygen to the body? Did you know that lungs do not have muscles of their own?!! Then get your kids ready to put on their lab coats because Horace Mann's Science Fair 2016 is finally here! You don't want to miss this and more science facts. Demos include mixing colors, color bubbles, puzzles, robot building, how to use magnets, how to solve puzzles and how to use critical thinking. No, this fair is not just for people interested in science, this event is for everyone who wants to come and spend a fun evening with family. We want your little scientists to present her or his findings by participating in this educational and fun event. Sign up here.
This event is on March 31 from 6 to 8 pm and it's totally free! Food will be available for purchase, it will be taco Tuesday, on a Thursday!!! We are also looking for parents to volunteer at the fair. We need help with signups, cleanup and making this event a success. Volunteers sign up here.

LWSD Bond - Vote by April 26
LWSD has experienced incredible growth and we need to make sure all students in LWSD attend schools that are safe and can accommodate all students. Horace Mann PTSA is proud to endorse and support the upcoming 2016 bond. This bond will not raise taxes - it will only help all our students reach their full potential by providing much needed improvements to schools and new schools to accommodate growth. We Want Your Photos!!
Please submit photos from school events to be considered for use in the yearbook. We are in need of photos from each classroom and all school events.
