If you missed the chance in the fall to order Spirit Wear head to the PTSA website to place an online order. We will be taking online orders for one more week. The deadline is Sunday, February 28. The PTSA Needs YOU!

Super Sitters Registration Open for 5th Graders
Who: Horace Mann 5th Grade Students
When: Friday, March 11, 9 am - 2 pm
Where: Art & Science Room
Fee: $43 per student (Registration Deadline: March 6)
The Super Sitters program is designed to train young people in basic babysitting and home alone skills. Students completing this course will be better prepared to provide a safer and more positive infant/child care experience. Taught by a hospital-qualified instructor (Cindy Tucker), this class includes parent expectations, basic first aid, home and fire safety, Heimlich maneuver, telephone tips, toys and activities and infant care. Participants receive a Babysitting 101 handbook and certification card upon completion of the class.
Be a parent volunteer for the class and your child will have a FREE tuition! We only need one parent volunteer. There is no experience necessary, you will just be taking attendance, and helping the teacher as needed. As a parent volunteer you will also need to be a current PTSA member (you can join on the PTSA website at any time) and a current approved volunteer with the LWSD (applications are available on the LWSD website). The volunteer doesn't need to be the parent, but can also be an adult relative, neighbor, or friend, as long as they are a PTSA member and an approved district volunteer.

Seeking Volunteers for Next Year's PTSA Board
Do your kids use IXL? Did they enjoy the movie night and the dance? Do they like the after school classes? We need you to keep these programs running smoothly and keep our school great! The PTSA Nominating Committee is seeking volunteers who would like to take an active role in leading the PTSA as members of the PTSA Board for the 2016-17 school year. Positions are: Co-President, Co-VP of Fundraising, Co-VP of Volunteers and School Services, Co-VP of Enrichment, Co-Treasurer, Co VP of Art and Secretary. This is a great way to support your child's education and get to know other parents at the school. Take a leadership role yourself or nominate someone you know! Watch for the nominating forms, which are being sent home with your student. You may also download a copy of the form from the PTSA website here. The Yearbook Needs Your Photos!
Please submit photos from school events to be considered for use in the yearbook. We are in need of photos from each classroom and all school events. Here are some examples of events you may have taken photos at: first day of school, class harvest party, assemblies, spooghetti feed, winter concert, field trips, art projects, movie night, etc. How to upload photos to be considered for use in the yearbook: community.pictavo.comclick "upload photos" click " create an account" School ID: 58947 Please include as much detail as possible when uploading photos. Photos must be high quality or they will not be used. Most cell phones are still not high enough quality to be used. |
