Health Room Volunteers Needed

We need caring parents like you to help staff the health room Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:45 am - 1:15 pm. Be a comforting and supportive presence for kids with minor injuries like bumps and scratches. No medical experience is necessary. Volunteer once a week or every other week.
Horace Mann Service Club is hosting a
SOCK DRIVE

The Service Club will be collecting new socks for the YWCA. Socks are often an overlooked necessity of those in need. All sizes are needed. Look for the decorated box near the library bulletin board. The drive will continue through January 14th.
Winter Quarter Enrichment Registration is
Open through January 17

Registration is open and space is available in many of our Winter Quarter After School Enrichment classes. This quarter, students can keep active in one of our sports classes, learn to speak Spanish, have fun while practicing math, learn to code, or explore their artistic side. The classes are filling up fast, so register today on the Enrichment page of the Horace Mann PTSA website. Wait lists are available for classes that have reached capacity. Enrollment will close on January 17, and late registrations will not be accepted.

Also, please note that Kindergarten Registration is Thursday, February 4th, from 1-7 pm. You can come anytime during these hours to register your incoming kindergarten student.
Redmond Middle School PTSA is Hiring the Future!
Put your skills to work in 2016-2017

Do you have a 5th grader entering RMS next year? Welcome to the Grizzly team!

RMS PTSA provides grants and school support for Redmond Middle School. This year alone we've purchased nearly $10,000 in curriculum materials, books and athletic supplies for the school, as well as providing volunteer support for back to school and the ASB social events.

Many of our board is retiring, and without a solid PTSA in 2016-2017, our school may miss out on these much needed programs next year! Being on the board is uplifting and fun, and at the middle school level is only a 2-10 hour/month commitment, depending on the role. Volunteering for PTSA looks great on a resume, doesn't require citizenship or a work visa, and studies show that when parents are involved in educational success, their kids do better in school!
Consider one of these exciting positions and be an RMS hero!

President, or 2 Co-presidents - Oversees the board and chair positions, hosts monthly meetings, and communicates with teachers and parents. Commitment of ~1hr/week + monthly meeting(s).

Treasurer - Maintains management of PTA funds and bank accounts. Pays bills, receives and disburses all monies as voted upon by the general membership. Great role for a math geek! Commitment of ~2hrs+/week.

VP - Assists in one or more roles working directly with the PTSA President. For example, our Hospitality VP assists with staff appreciation, our Volunteers VP sends reminders and requests to the community, and our Communications VP assists with online and social media. <1hr/week.

Secretary - Are you good at taking notes? Love buying office supplies? The Secretary takes official meeting minutes and stores records for the PTSA. <1hr/week.

Legislative Advocacy Chair - If you are passionate about Education, and would like to help spread the word about what we all can do to advocate at the local, state and national level, this position is for you.

To find out more, please contact nomcomm@rmsptsa.org, or join us at any of our upcoming Board Meetings, including January 19th @ 6pm, and February 16th @ 6pm. Learn about all the cool things we're doing for RMS kids!
