Staff Appreciation

The staff at Mann Elementary enjoyed our fabulous California Travel Package last week!!!  It was so fabulous!!!

Monday: Beverly Hills Espresso and yummy breakfast treats.

Tuesday: San Francisco Box lunches delivered by our awesome parents.

Thursday: San Diego Burrito Bar from Qdoba was incredibly delicious.

And Friday:  fabulous fruit and veggies from Salinas Valley farm stand.

We enjoyed our trip and appreciate everyone that contributed and help.  A special shout out to Nicci Ischer. We feel so appreciated and are so grateful.

We have an amazing parent community here and appreciate all you do for us.

Thank you, Mann Staff

Attention 5th Grade Parents!

Is your child attending Redmond Middle School in September? If so, welcome to the Grizzlies! We're excited to have you here!

Please be sure to sign up for the RMS Bear Tracks newsletter. It's our school's weekly e-newsletter, where you can find information about all of our upcoming events and programs throughout the year. You won't want to miss it! Sign up before August, so you have all the information needed for our back to school "Griz Biz" events, which happen before school starts.

One surprise many elementary parents often don't expect is that our middle school photo day and sports enrollment happen as early as mid-August.

Interested in PTSA? Although our middle schoolers are more independent, there are still many ways for parents to get involved in their child's education. We're always looking for dance chaperones, event chairs, library helpers, and so much more! Watch for PTSA Membership and volunteer information in the Bear Tracks and at Griz Biz Days in August. We can't wait to have you on board!

See you in the fall! Go Grizzlies!

Congratulations to our Band Students

A special congratulations to our band students.  They had an outstanding performance last night at their Spring Concert.  Both the 1st Year Band and the 2nd Year Advanced Band displayed great musicianship and excitement in their performance.  In addition, there were many students performing solos or in small groups, going that extra mile to prepare some additional music.  Miss Berman and Mr. Furness said they are very proud of them!!  Congratulations!

Excitement Grows as The World of Fun International Carnival Draws Near

Mark your calendars!  June 5th, from 530pm-8pm, the Horace Mann PTSA is excited to present the very first World of Fun International Carnival!  This event is going to be not only fun for the whole family, but it will be HUGE.   We will need equipment and volunteers to make sure the carnival runs smoothly and easily.  Please take a look at the Sign Up Genius (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/70a0a4daeae28a02-world) and see where you fit best.  As always, the events at school take teamwork and we cannot have a successful event without YOU!

SchoolPool Update

Our SchoolPool program is well under way and we've already raised $330 for the school and had students take 64 non-drive alone trips!

Bike and Walk to School Day was a great success! Thank you to everyone who participated.  If you tried a new way of getting to school, hopefully you saw how fun it can be for your students to get active!

If you're already signed up for SchoolPool, make sure you've added your walk, bike, carpool, or bus trips to the SchoolPool Calendar to raise $10 for our school's PTA.

So far, we've had 22 new families join, and it's not too late to encourage your classmates and neighbors to sign up.  To sign up go here (http://redmondschoolpool.com/).

SBA Testing Dates

3rd-5th grade parents,

Please mark the following dates on your calendar.  It is essential all 3rd-5th grade students attend these days of school for the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA).  Please make doctor appointments on other days or before or after school.  The SBA has an interesting component to it.  One of the testing days involves a whole class performance task, which will usually mean a class discussion.  If students miss these sessions, it will be extremely difficult to re-create these discussions in a make-up session.  Your help in making sure your child is attending school well-rested, healthy and fed on these days is much appreciated.
