Seeking Volunteers for Next Year's PTSA Board

Do your kids use IXL? Did they enjoy the movie night and the dance? Do they like the after school classes? Do you think Horace Mann is a great school? We need you to keep these programs running smoothly and keep our school great!

The PTSA Nominating Committee is seeking volunteers who would like to take an active role in leading the PTSA as members of the PTSA Board for the 2015-16 school year. Positions are: Co-Presidents, Co-VPs of Fundraising, Co-VPs of Volunteers and School Services, Co-VPs of Enrichment, and Co-Treasurers. This is a great way to support your child's education and get to know other parents at the school. Watch for the nominating forms, which are being sent home with your student. You also can email jenn.r.farrell@gmail.com to request an electronic copy of the form. You must be a PTSA member to be eligible to serve on the Board.

Legacy for Learning Luncheon

Come and celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Legacy for Learning Luncheon supporting the Lake Washington Schools Foundation! We would love to have you join other Horace Mann parents at our table on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Juanita High School.  Doors open at 11:15 and lunch begins at 11:45am.  You can register by April 21 at:  https://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/eventReg?oeidk=a07eaicvp2d70ee9d6b&oseq=&c=&ch=

Our table captain this year is our school counselor Marion Holland. Note from the registration web site: Lunch is complimentary, but please consider a minimum donation of $150 to help the Foundation increase its investment in our students and teachers!

The Face of Art

Art Night is fast approaching (April 30th) and won't be a success without volunteers -  we need YOU! Please take a moment and sign up for a shift on the following link: ART NIGHT SIGNUP GENIUS.  It's looking pretty scarce for volunteers and we would hate to have lesson our activity list because we didn't have people to "mann" them!

Please email Ann Savage at whymom@gmail.com with any questions!

Parent Input Forms Now Available

During the month of April, we are accepting parent input on your student's class placement for next year. Forms are available in the office and are due back no later than April 30th.

SBA Testing Dates

3rd-5th grade parents,

Please mark the following dates on your calendar.  It is essential all 3rd-5th grade students attend these days of school for the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA).  Please make doctor appointments on other days or before or after school.  The SBA has an interesting component to it.  One of the testing days involves a whole class performance task, which will usually mean a class discussion.  If students miss these sessions, it will be extremely difficult to re-create these discussions in a make-up session.  Your help in making sure your child is attending school well-rested, healthy and fed on these days is much appreciated.
