BE PART OF SOMETHING SPECIAL

PTSA Award Committee Needed!

Truly an amazing committee to be a part of! Time commitment includes gathering nominations, reading nominations, and meeting to select recipients. If interested please email Jean Chenevert at president@horacemannptsa.org.

The Face of Art

Art Night is fast approaching (April 30th) and won't be a success without volunteers -  we need YOU! Please take a moment and sign up for a shift on the following link: ART NIGHT SIGNUP GENIUS.  It's looking pretty scarce for volunteers and we would hate to have lesson our activity list because we didn't have people to "mann" them!

Please email Ann Savage at whymom@gmail.com with any questions!

Special Thanks: Sound Credit Union

This year the Horace Mann ASB spirit team did a coin drive for Seattle Children's Cancer Society.  The coin drive raised a grand total of $2,055.  This was an amazing community drive.  However, $2,055 coins are a lot of money to count.  Special thanks for our ability to donate the coins to Seattle Children's Cancer Society must be given to Sound Credit Union.  The people at Sound Credit Union provided the tools and help to make sure that all money was counted.  They definitely demonstrated a high commitment to us with their personal touch.  Thank you so much Sound Credit Union.  This Charity drive was only possible with your help.

Concert Series

Classic & Contemporary - The Redmond Region Orchestra Boosters invite you to attend our two night concert series on April 17th & 18th at 7:30 pm in the Redmond Performing Arts Center. The series will feature acclaimed viola soloist Brett Deubner accompanied by the Redmond High School Mustang Symphony, Redmond High School Chamber Orchestra, and members of the Lake Washington School District Honors Orchestra. To purchase tickets go to brownpapertickets.com (check event under the heading "Brett Deubner"). For more information please visit redmondorchestras.org.  All proceeds will support the orchestra programs in the LWSD Redmond area.

Parent Input Forms Now Available

During the month of April, we are accepting parent input on your student's class placement for next year. Forms are available in the office and are due back no later than April 30th.

Do you want the After School Enrichment program to continue next year?

Do your kids enjoy the after school enrichment classes like Art, Chess and Computer Programming?

To keep this program going we need an After School Enrichment Coordinator. This parent volunteer will assist the VP, Enrichment with planning classes and administering the program.

If you are interested please contact Gretchen Connors at afterschoolenrichment@horacemannptsa.org.

SBA Testing Dates

3rd-5th grade parents,

Please mark the following dates on your calendar.  It is essential all 3rd-5th grade students attend these days of school for the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA).  Please make doctor appointments on other days or before or after school.  The SBA has an interesting component to it.  One of the testing days involves a whole class performance task, which will usually mean a class discussion.  If students miss these sessions, it will be extremely difficult to re-create these discussions in a make-up session.  Your help in making sure your child is attending school well-rested, healthy and fed on these days is much appreciated.
