An invitation for 5th Grade families

from Redmond Middle School PTSA

Would you like to use your talents for the benefit of the students at Redmond Middle School? Would you like to have a say into how your Parent Association is run, its mission and goals, and how your membership and donation money is spent? Do you have great ideas, and the drive to make good things happen?! If your answer is Yes! to at least one of these questions, and you will have one or two Tuesday nights per month available for meetings next year, then you are a Perfect Candidate for one of our leadership PTSA positions for the school year 2015-2016.

The RMS PTSA Nominating Committee is currently looking for volunteers for the following positions: Co-President, Secretary, Vice President or Co-Vice President of Volunteers.

Now here's the small print: Total time commitment is an average two hours per week, possibly more the week before a meeting, and much less in the weeks between. Yes, we are not misleading you, this is how much easier it is to manage a middle school PTA, compared to the elementary level. Here at the middle school, you can make a difference, with time to spare!

The perks: there is a great deal of joy and satisfaction in helping make things go from idea to reality. Also, you'd get to work with a pretty amazing group of very committed people, both volunteers and staff, gain a better understanding of your child's school, and acquire many skills that you will find very useful in the job market.  Extensive training is available.

The sooner you jump in, the better prepared you'll be to make 2015-2016 the best year ever at RMS! Intrigued? Contact Nominating Committee Chair Janitzia Pizarro today.

SBA Testing Dates

3rd-5th grade parents,

Please mark the following dates on your calendar.  It is essential all 3rd-5th grade students attend these days of school for the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA).  Please make doctor appointments on other days or before or after school.  The SBA has an interesting component to it.  One of the testing days involves a whole class performance task, which will usually mean a class discussion.  If students miss these sessions, it will be extremely difficult to re-create these discussions in a make-up session.  Your help in making sure your child is attending school well-rested, healthy and fed on these days is much appreciated.
