Focus Day 2015 - Registration Details

Please plan on joining fellow Washington State PTA members from across the state on Monday, January 19 in Olympia for our biggest advocacy event of the year - Focus Day 2015.

At Focus Day, PTA members meet with legislators then rally on the steps of the Capitol. Your presence helps us ensure education will be front and center with our lawmakers during the upcoming legislative session. Children are welcome to attend.

Lake Washington PTSA members are scheduled to meet with legislators from the 45th Legislative District (Sen. Andy Hill, Rep. Roger Goodman and Rep. Larry Springer).

You can register for Focus Day 2015 here: http://www.eventbrite.com/e/focus-day-2015-registration-14897092605

Lake Washington PTSA Council has reserved a bus to take our members to and from Olympia. If you would like a ride on our bus, please register here http://www.eventbrite.com/o/beth-sigall-7841594595?s=32078984 (note - there is no fee to ride to the bus, but registration is required).

The 2015 legislative session is certain to be of historic importance for education in our state. We hope you can join us.

Last Input Opportunity on LWSD Boundary Changes

Click here (http://www.lwsd.org/News/Reboundary/Pages/default.aspx) to review the information and provide input.

The district's boundary committee was developing two scenarios for each learning community, based on the community feedback received to date. The committee included neighborhoods that have not moved in previous scenarios for two learning communities (Lake Washington and Redmond).

The scenarios have now been posted on the district's website and the comment period has now begun. You will be able to comment on these scenarios through the end of the business day on January 14. To review the information and provide input, click here.

Information received during the comment period will help inform the committee's final recommendation. The committee will present its recommendation to the superintendent. The superintendent will make a final recommendation to the School Board at the January 26 School Board Meeting.

After review of the two scenarios, we can summarize that Scenario 1 will have approximately 67 students from Abbey Road off of 104th joining Mann from Rockwell. Scenario 2 will have approximately 78 students from the Summerwood development off of Avondale joining Mann from Einstein.  The boundary committee is asking the community to rank their preference between the two scenarios.
