Informational Meeting Regarding Education Hill Property Crimes

Horace Mann Community,

Did you know that door to door solicitors must have a Redmond-issued permit to knock on your door?  Many property thefts start with someone at your door posing as a salesperson.  Another tactic involves having a "look-out" appearing to do yard work with tools such as a leaf blower while an accomplice enters a home from the backyard. In light of the recent increase in property thefts and home break-ins in and around Education Hill, the PTSA has invited Officer Tom Goepfert from the Redmond Police Department to come to Horace Mann on Thursday, December 18th at 5:30 pm to talk with us about how we can help keep our neighborhoods safe.  Statistics show that during the next few weeks, we will see an increase in property crimes due to Winter Break.  With many of us (and our neighbors) leaving town for the Holidays, we encourage you to join us for this helpful Question & Answer session with Officer Goepfert to learn more about protecting our neighborhoods.

Nominating Committee Needs Volunteers

PTSA Members - We are looking for a handful of parent volunteers to be on the Nominating Committee. This is the team that receives and reviews all nominations and selects the 2015/16 PTSA Executive Committee (President, VP's, Secretary, Treasurers). Training is provided by the Lake Washington PTSA in January.

If you are interested or have questions, please contact Jean Chenevert at jeanmhamlin@yahoo.com

You will work with Mrs. Spaulding and the Horace Mann Administrative Staff to identify fun, educational assemblies to bring into the school each year. Train the Trainer Common Core Standards Opportunity

The WSPTA will be providing presentations around the state to help build parents' understanding and awareness for Common Core State Standards and Smarter Balanced assessments. WSPTA and Partnership for Learning (PFL) are the recipients of a grant from College Spark to facilitate these presentations. WSPTA is interested in finding qualified volunteer trainers willing to commit to the training process and become certified trainers.
