Boundary change process update Staff working subcommittees from each of the district's four Learning Communities have begun meeting to develop scenarios for boundary changes. Our district is organized into four Learning Communities: Eastlake, Juanita, Lake Washington, and Redmond. Learning communities include the neighborhood schools that feed into the same high school. There is a staff subcommittee working on the boundary scenarios for each Learning Community. These scenarios will be shared with parents/community for feedback in December. The specific meeting dates, times, and locations by Learning Community are: * Redmond Learning Community - Redmond High School Commons, Monday, December 1, 6:30-8:00 p.m. * Lake Washington Learning Community - Lake Washington High School Commons, Tuesday, December 2, 6:30-8:00 p.m. * Eastlake Learning Community - Eastlake High School Commons, Thursday, December 11, 6:30-8:00 p.m. * Juanita Learning Community - Juanita High School Commons, Monday, December 15, 6:30-8:00 p.m. For those who cannot attend the meeting, all of the information will be posted online. You will be able to submit your feedback to the committee online. The subcommittees are in the process of developing the scenarios that will be shared in December. Over the last two weeks, the subcommittees each met separately to review data and consider initial ideas. The subcommittees must analyze all impacts of each possible change. That process also helps develop more possibilities. The subcommittees will continue this process of developing and analyzing ideas at future meetings. Part of the analysis includes comparing possibilities with the decision-making criteria that was ranked based on a survey of parents/guardians and community members. The subcommittees are working toward developing two to three scenarios for each Learning Community for parent feedback. After parent feedback is received in December, the committee will take the feedback and develop a preferred scenario. Ultimately, the committee will recommend a preferred scenario to the superintendent. The superintendent then brings a recommendation to the Board of Directors for action. |
