**New** Math Challenge is Out! All students invited to participate. Winners will be chosen each week and get a prize. Awards will be given out at the end of year for completing all 15! |
SAVE THE DATE! It's getting colder outside, and on Friday, November 7, our gym will be Frozen. Save the date and join us as Anna and Elsa make their Horace Mann Movie Night debut. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. and Frozen begins at 7 p.m. We will have pizza, popcorn, candy and more for sale. Tickets will be on sale soon. Right now, we need your help to make movie night a success. Math Contests
It's time to register (http://horacemannptsa.org/Packet/MathContest) for Noetic Learning Math Contest (Fall) and Math Kangaroo Math Competition at Horace Mann this year!
Noetic Learning Math Contest is just around the corner on Nov 14, 2014. Practice problems will be available ONLY at Math Club on Tuesdays at lunch recess. Tell your kids to drop on by!
Math Kangaroo is March 19, 2015 but registration closes on 12/15/14 and there are only 50 slots available. Both nearby centers are already full so don't delay!

Keep up with the boundary change process Between now and February, Lake Washington School District is reviewing and making changes to the boundaries that determine which students attend which schools. We do not yet know how our school might be affected. However, there is an easy way to keep up with the activities of the committee that is working on these changes. The LWSD Reboundary Process (http://www.lwsd.org/News/Reboundary/Pages/default.aspx) page on the district website is where all the information on this process is being posted as it goes along. On the right hand side of the page, there is a link that says Sign up to receive boundary process email updates. Click on that link (or this link here: http://bit.ly/1swWLxO) and follow the prompts. You will receive an email to alert you whenever new information is posted. |
Vision and Health Screening Day Health screening day happens once a year at Horace Mann. The students are screened for routine vision and hearing issues. The school nurse reviews results and lets parents know if there are any vision or hearing issues with their child. We need volunteers to help on this day, November 20, 2014. The screening runs from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM. If you are able to volunteer and help for all or part of the morning, please sign up with this Signup Genius: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0c4ba8ae28a2f94-vision or send an email to chairperson Greg Reichlin (gregreichlin@gmail.com) who is the coordinator for this year's health screening day. No prior experience is necessary and the training only takes a few minutes in the morning before students come in. This has been a fun event in the past, and parents love seeing their kids come through the lines. Get involved! Many helpers lighten the workload and helps get the job done quickly! |
