Dear Mann Community:
Here are just a couple of notices for this upcoming week.
Feedback Meeting
Last week a letter went out to all families in the Mann community regarding the overcrowding issues in the Redmond Learning Community. The potential short-term strategies for dealing with the overcrowding at Rockwell and Einstein Elementary Schools, involves the use of current and potential additional space at Mann Elementary. Specifically, the district is exploring these potential short-term strategies:
- Conduct a temporary boundary adjustment process to identify unoccupied housing developments currently in Rockwell's attendance area and adjust their attendance area to Mann Elementary;
- Limit the sections of all-day kindergarten available at Einstein Elementary and creating opportunities for all-day kindergarten at Mann Elementary.
Your feedback is important. The district will be hosting a meeting for Mann families from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 25 in the commons. If you are able to attend, please come and provide feedback to the district. Following the meeting on November 25, we will post the presentation and feedback forms on the district website so you are able to provide feedback if you are unable to attend the meeting.
Tardies
This week there have been more students late to school than ever before. It is very disruptive to the classes and interrupts the learning when students come in late. With the colder, wetter weather, more families are choosing to drive their students to school so traffic is getting worse. If you choose to drive your student to school, please leave extra time to account for the traffic.
I hope you all have a happy Thanksgiving weekend!

Transitions Help Needed For the Holidays
The holiday season is fast approaching and we are asking for your help for our Horace Mann families who may need a little extra support during this time. As a school community, we provide a Thanksgiving meal and Christmas gift cards to a handful of families in our school family who may be going through tough financial times.
If you are willing and able to help, please donate either money &/or gift cards (to any local store) to the school office, c/o Ann Glassey (checks made out to Horace Mann PTSA, with "Transitions" in memo line).
Your support is very much appreciated and truly makes a difference. We are collecting money and gift cards through November for BOTH Thanksgiving and Christmas. Thank you.

The Knights of the Multiplication Table
This exciting program involves all 3rd and 4th grade students at Horace Mann. Upon completing their multiplication facts, our students will have the opportunity to kneel before our royal Mrs. Spaulding to be knighted and honored with their classmates.
Many of the 4th grade students were knighted last year. They will have ONE opportunity this year to become senior knights. The Horace Mann Senior Knighting Ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 19th at 2:00 PM. Parents of those being knighted are invited to attend.
Do lots of multiplication review at home so that you can one day soon join The Knights of the Multiplication Table!
