Dear Mann Community:

 Megan Spaulding closer

Student achievement is a top priority at Mann.  Our student have performed and continue to perform well on district and state assessments.  Our students' learning is a direct result of hard work from our teachers and volunteers.  Most of our volunteers work in their child's class, but it doesn't always have to be that way.  In fact, there is a need right now for any approved volunteer to help our students to become better readers.  Specifically, we would like a small cadre of parent volunteers who would be willing to consistently commit to working with first grade students in reading this year.  This most likely would be doing Read Naturally, a fluency building program.  Ideally, if it could be done three times per week that would make a very positive impact on our students.  Training will be available for anyone who is willing to volunteer.  If you are interested, first please be sure you are an approved volunteer or register to be an approved LWSD volunteer at this link.  Second, please e-mail volunteers@horacemannptsa.org stating your willingness to help in the 1st grade reading program.

Thanks in advance for your support of all of our students' learning.

Megan Spaulding

Service Club is sponsoring the annual coat drive again this year from Nov. 4th - 18th.  We will be collecting gently used coats which will be taken to Eastside Baby Corner and given directly to families who need them.

If you have coats that you've outgrown, please consider sending them in for a good cause.  We will also take hats, gloves and scarves.  Contact Jodie Miller or Colleen Wolfe with questions.
