Fall Colt Carnival October 17th

Dear Parents,

We're very excited to hold the Colt Carnival this fall! This year, the event will be held Friday, October 4thfrom 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

Colt Carnival is an opportunity for Horace Mann students and their families to enjoy a fun-filled autumn evening with their friends after they've settled into the new school year. The Carnival is also a perfect time for all parents to get to know their child's classmates and teachers and become involved in the Horace Mann community by volunteering for various Carnival activities. You can sign up to help at the Carnival on Curriculum Night or if you'd like to help plan the event, please contact Ann Gugat at anngugat@yahoo.com.

We'll have a variety of games and kid-friendly activities for all ages. We're bringing back some popular booths like the stuffed animal, book, and cake walks; inflatable outdoor play structure; tattoos; speed pitch; spin art; roller racers; bean bag toss; ring toss; and Plinko. This is just a sampling of what we have in store for the kids. Food and drink will be available for purchase too!

We will be having a Book/Stuffed Animal walk, so please save books and animals that you are ready to give away and donate them to the carnival.  We will have a collection site at the school when the school year starts.

In your First Day Pack, you'll find various flyers pertaining to the Colt Carnival. Amongst these, please share the drawing contest with your student(s) before school begins. This is a chance for all your young Colts to showcase their creativity. Have them create a poster to promote this year's Colt Carnival. Details, including the entry form, can be found in the flyer.

Once school starts, students will see and hear the buzz around the Carnival. One way we've decided to involve all the kids is to hold a "Guess How Many" contest. We'll have 3 tubes filled to the top with items like Legos, crayons, beads, or erasers. Students will get a chance to "guess/estimate" the number of items in each of the 3 tubes. The winners who guess the closest number wins a prize!

We're so excited to plan this year's Colt Carnival. It's sure to be a big hit with all the kids, including the new incoming kindergarten class. Please help us to raise the excitement with your kiddos the next few weeks before school begins!

Thank you,

Ann Gugat
