New Year, New Website

We, at the Center, are pleased to announce we have launched a brand new website. This new site is the culmination of gathering data and listening to the voice of our customer over the past five years. The site is highly intuitive and dynamic, allowing you to quickly find the information for which you're looking.

Here are a few of the customer-focused features:

  • Enhanced search feature that will not only pick up tagged content, it also will drill down into .pdf files.  No more struggling to find the information you need.
  • Navigation menus are clearly defined, creating intuitive ease of use. With one click from the home page, you can go directly to our Education and Event offerings, or go directly to our store to purchase products to help your lean journey.
  • Our educational offerings are sortable by category, content title, location, and date. We also provide a downloadable catalog to review course content at a glance, or to share with your team.

Our social media links are available at the top of each page, where you can join a conversation on LinkedIn or Facebook, link to our Twitter feed, or check out our videos on YouTube. In addition, we highly encourage you to take advantage of the RSS feed button, located at the top of every page. Each time we add peer-reviewed articles, Center news, or new blog posts, you'll be in the know.

One feature we've included is an easy newsletter signup, so you don't miss a single issue of important news and info sharing from the Center. Not only that, you can sign up for notifications for specific areas of interest.

Our blog, which now features many voices, has been given a name:  Center Point. From here, you'll learn about the Center's point of view related to current events in healthcare that impact your lean transformation. We also look forward to your comments on these posts, creating an interactive dialog.

Together with our customers, we have designed a site that will provide what you need, when you need it, and we look forward to your visit at createvalue.org

The Power of Potent Medicine

Educating the future generation of healthcare administrators

Are future healthcare leaders reading the right books? To transform healthcare, we need to educate students on the new realities of administration. Bundled payments, population health, transparent data and continuous improvement must be part of this curriculum.

If you have read Potent Medicine, you know how valuable this information is in transforming healthcare. Spread the word. Please take a minute to reach out to your local university. Tell them about
Potent Medicine and persuade them to add this book to the reading list for all healthcare students. The knowledge John Toussaint, MD, has written about can provide the catalyst to ignite the next generation of leaders to join the transformation movement.

Lean Lessons from Bronson

Thirty-two guests at the Bronson Health Gemba Visit learned about:

  • Improvement opportunities in Bronson's ortho value stream,
  • The benefits of tiered reporting to service line administrators and,
  • How to identify and address patient safety issues by implementing a 15-minute system-wide Daily Check-In.

They glimpsed the great work being done in the lab, ER and pharmacy, and enjoyed updates on Bronson's Evidence Driven Improvement work and its Patient Family Advisory Council. Dr. Elizabeth Warner explained the 3P process used to build out office space to accommodate an efficient primary care model.
