Gemba at Palo Alto Medical Foundation
The Palo Alto Medical Foundation gemba visit demonstrated the application of lean in outpatient and ambulatory clinic settings. Participants learned how to use innovative tools to satisfy patients, physicians and staff, including:
- System-wide strategy alignment through tiered reporting from the frontline to the executive visual room, and
- Strategic focus on access by improving office visit efficiency though MD-MA "co-location" (think physicians giving up their offices) and "grains of sand" (three tasks in less than 30 seconds each)
