Greetings!
Changing how healthcare operates continues to be top of mind for leaders around the country. It's too complex, costly, and doesn't deliver the right value to patients.
Transformative change is hard work. It requires new behaviors from everyone in the organization and throughout the industry. One of the biggest challenges is gaining momentum - convincing peers, bosses, subordinates and business partners to try something new by asking our patients what is valuable to them. It's a process of awareness and discovery to find out what good can look like and what is possible.
The ThedaCare Center for Healthcare Value's role in this transformation is to provide learning experiences, resources and educational opportunities to help you and your organization experiment and transform. Here's what we've been working on to help your transformation:
- We've published several recent articles in popular journals that can help you make the case.
-
We just announced the founding members of CBIN, a peer-to-peer network to address clinical business intelligence skills and capacity in healthcare. - We are hosting a Payment Reform Summit, which will bring a group together to share payment experiments taking place around the country and discuss the successes and obstacles each organization has experienced.
- We have new educational opportunities that will take your organization deeper in your lean journey.
- Registration is now open for the 4th Annual Lean Healthcare Transformation Summit. We'll highlight experiments from more than 20 organizations at different stages of their transformational journeys. Registration is limited - reserve your spot today and continue our industry's transformation!

New Article in Frontiers by Center CEO John Toussaint
Center CEO John Toussaint, MD, authored A Management, Leadership and Board Roadmap to Transforming Care of Patients in the latest Frontiers of Health Services Management, a publication of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Payment Reform Summit Across the country, leading healthcare providers are making care safer and eliminating waste, and losing revenue as a result. We think it is time for this to change. Transformation of payment systems, both government and commercial, must keep pace with and support delivery system transformation, while not penalizing providers for doing the right thing. We are convening a small and innovative group in Appleton, WI on Apr. 29-30 to share progressive payment experiments going on around the country and discuss the successes and obstacles to date. If you know of a health system doing great work in this area who would like to participate, contact Karen Timberlake.
