New Clinical Business Intelligence Network Set to Launch

The Center is currently enrolling members for the Clinical Business  Intelligence Network (CBIN), our newest peer-to-peer learning network. CBIN brings together those who are responsible for the flow of clinical, operational and financial information within their organizations to learn, share and connect with each other to leverage their collective experience.

There are already eight committed organizations, with room for two more. Organizations who submit their member agreements by Feb. 20 will be considered Pioneer Members, and will participate in the CBIN kick-off meeting in Appleton, WI. on March 25 and 26. The goal of this meeting is to set direction and guide development of CBIN services, products and events. Enrollment of additional members will continue throughout the year.

To learn more about CBIN, click here, check out this webinar, or contact Julie Bartels at 920.309.2216.

Power of Peer-to-Peer

The Center's newest white paper, Power of Peer-to-Peer, focuses on the importance of a peer-to-peer learning structure and highlights the benefits of this kind of learning, particularly among Healthcare Value Network (HVN) member organizations.

These benefits include learning from like-minded organizations, sharing experiences, connecting with other leaders who have similar objectives and getting sustainable results. The white paper also outlines a variety of opportunities HVN members have to collaborate, including gemba visits, assessments, webinars, education and training, resources and affinity groups.

Perfecting Patient Journeys - Latest Addition to Center Library
The Center is excited to offer Perfecting Patient Journeys, by partners and key associates of the Lean Transformations Group.  The book is hot off the press from the Lean Enterprise Institute, one of the Center's partners in spreading lean thinking.

The book serves as a guide for leaders of healthcare organizations who are looking to implement lean thinking. Readers will learn how to identify a problem, define a project scope, create a shared understanding of what's occurring in the value stream, and develop a shared vision of an improved future.

Over the past eight years, the authors of this book have helped healthcare organizations learn how to make real and sustainable change, which has led to these stunning results:

  • Reduced annual staff turnover by 20%
  • Average length of stay in a large emergency department was reduced by 30%
  • The number of patients who left without being seen dropped by 60% in the same hospital
  • Customer satisfaction increased by 73%
  • Operation room changeover time was reduced, which increased the number of surgical procedures performed by 20%

The method outlined in this book focuses on solving real organizational problems, and helps healthcare organizations provide safe, effective, efficient, and timely patient care.
