Kundalini Yoga as taugh by Yogi Bhajan
The Legacy...

"Kundalini Yoga is uncoiling yourself to find your potential and your vitality and to reach for your virtues. There is nothing from outside. Try to understand that. All is in you. You are the storehouse of your totality." ~Yogi Bhajan

Greetings!
Ttoday I would like to share a bit about a great man of peace...

Where it all began...

In l929, far from America in northern India (now Pakistan) Harbhajan Singh Puri, later known as Yogi Bhajan, was born. From childhood he was fascinated with spiritual matters, and learned to master Kundalini Yoga by the age of l6 under the guidance of a learned yogi named Sant Hazara Singh. In his homeland, Yogi Bhajan was greatly respected; he held leadership positions in his community, even traveling many miles to bring a thousand people from his village to safety in Delhi during a violent uprising.

As a young man, he studied at Punjab University, earned a Master's Degree in Economics, and served in the Indian Government.

Destiny, vision and compassion....

After a brief visit to Toronto in l968, where he had been offered a teaching position, Yogi Bhajan was drawn to America.

When he came to Los Angeles in l969 at the age of 39, his vision was to spread the word of Kundalini Yoga, and to share the secrets of ancient yogis that had been passed from one yogi to the next for centuries, guarded from the general populace like precious jewels. It was Yogi Bhajan's belief that the technology of Kundalini Yoga should be shared, that all people-not just an elite few-should benefit from these ancient teachings.

Courage...

This was a revolutionary approach, but Yogi Bhajan was determined to help others find the happiness and spiritual peace he viewed as their birthright.

In Los Angeles in the late l960s, Yogi Bhajan offered an uplifting path of spirituality that countered the artificial high of the drug culture of the times.  Instead of the path that so often led to damage and despair, Yogi Bhajan offered a healthy, happy, holy route to spiritual peace through Kundalini Yoga.

He began to train the teachers needed to spread the technology of Kundalini Yoga far and wide to everyday people or "householders," men and women who could use the sacred teachings in their everyday lives.

Students flocked to his classes, and eventually hundreds of centers were opened all over America and abroad.

A man of World Peace...

YB and Dalai LamaThroughout his years in the United States, Yogi Bhajan established the 3HO Foundation (Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization), founded several companies that produce natural foods, authored numerous books, lectured widely, and as the Siri Singh Sahib (the leader of the Sikh religion in the Western Hemisphere), met with religious and government leaders from all over the world.

Family and universality....

He married Bibi Inderjit Kaur in l953, became the father of three children, and grandfather of five, and earned his PhD in communications psychology. Although he followed the Sikh religion, and many Kundalini practitioners have joined him on this path, Kundalini Yoga embraces all people from every walk of life and religious tradition.

Akal = undying, eternal...

On October 6, 2004 at the age of 75, Yogi Bhajan's soul made its transition, but his holy, happy, healthy message continues to inform the spiritual lives of thousands of men and women every day. Kundalini Yoga in the United States began with Yogi Bhajan, and continues to grow and flourish as more and more people discover the joy and beauty of this sacred and uplifting practice.

Yogi Tea recipe:

Make at least 4 cups of Yogi Tea at a time. It's a good idea to make large batches at a time, and store it in the refrigerator without milk; then add milk when you want to drink it. It can stay fresh in the refrigerator for about a week.

For 2 quarts use:
-20 cardamom pods
-20 peppercorns
-15 cloves
-5 or more slices of ginger root
-3 cinnamon sticks
-1 tbs. black tea.
 Boil at least 30 minutes.
Add 1 qt of milk.

Yogi Tea is also available in pre-mixed packages.(100% organic). You can order it  here.

Yogi Bhajan says about Yogi Tea:

"If you take a really a good amount of Yogi Tea, it will keep your liver very well. It is said to help the liver. And when we started in the sixties, people who had drug habits, who couldn't even move, we put them on Yogi Tea."

Yogi Tea is actually a combination of foods. It is a tonic to the nervous system. It can help to balance your system when you are feeling out of balance. It has been used often as a remedy and preventative measure for colds, flu and diseases of the mucous membranes.

Black pepper is a blood purifier. Cardamom is for the colon. Together they support the brain cells. Cloves help support the nervous system. Cinnamon is good for the bones. Ginger helps strengthen the nervous system and is very good if you have a cold, flu, physical weakness.

It can help women when they are experiencing menstrual discomfort, such as cramps or PMS symptoms.

You can try making Yogi Tea with extra ginger when you are feeling a cold or the flu coming on. If a man takes a cup of Yogi Tea after intercourse, it can help to replenish his body. In addition,

Yogi Tea diluted with milk, can be very helpful to a child who is experiencing the pains of teething.
