A Message from Tommy Briggs
In the late 1980s, I was given one of Leanne Payne's books and promptly put it on my bookshelf where it remained for several years.
In 1989, I transitioned from being a Senior Pastor of Baptist churches to being an Associate Pastor ministering in the area of Pastoral Care in Non- Denominational churches. In my first position in this area, I was training members of the congregation to minister to each other through prayer and healing. One day as I was browsing through my bookshelf I rediscovered and began reading Leanne's book. As I read through the pages, appealing and affirming truths jumped off the pages and revitalized my heart. Further investigation resulted in the discovery of the Pastoral Care Ministries School at Wheaton College. With a great deal of reluctance, I decided to attend the School. I did not tell anyone at my church what "conference" I was going to attend. Much to my surprise, in the very first session of the PCM School, I recognized a couple from my church.
From that first PCM, the presence of the Lord began a deep healing in my inner being which has continued throughout the years. The Lord began healing, restoring and renewing my mind with His Truth. The deep longings of my soul were fulfilled in ways I never dreamed possible. Although I had been a believer and pastor for many years, I experienced a new freedom to be and to become the person I now know the Lord redeemed me to be. John 8:36 "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." NKJV
The next year I brought approximately 30 people with me to PCM and we began a Prayer and Healing Ministry in our church. In 2001, we hosted a PCM in our church for the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Since that time I have been actively involved with PCM and now MPC. I have a deep passion for what I believe to be a part of the true ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ as it is presented, experienced and stewarded at MPC. I have witnessed the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in my own life and the lives of countless others through this ministry. I am now in my 52nd year of ministry and cannot imagine where I would be without having had this ministry in my life. I am, of all people, most grateful to give back a portion of what I have received. I continue to be refreshed and blessed at every PCM and MPC. I look forward to seeing and meeting many of you at the MPC School this year.
