Fort McMurray Wildfire - Equine Relief Update

Thank you to all who have donated funds/items for horses and owners in need as a result of the fires in Fort McMurray. It would not have been possible for us to continue coordinating relief without the valued support of the local, national and international equine communities.

The Horse Limo from Ontario has graciously organized and donated horse feed, first aid supplies, grooming supplies, equine tack, buckets and Tim Hortons gift cards for the individuals who have been effected by the recent wildfires. A transport truck is on its way to Alberta and we will be notifying those individuals registered with us upon its arrival.

Over the next several weeks, we will begin to coordinate distribution of donations received to those Fort McMurray residents registered with the AEF. Support will go to the horses and their owners.

Thank you to the horse community in Alberta and right across Canada for helping those in need.

Cougar Creek Deregulation & Land Sale in Bow Valley Wildland Provincial Park

Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) is proceeding with a 60-day public comment period for the deregulation and sale of a small portion of land within the Bow Valley Wildland Provincial Park to support long-term flood mitigation for the Town of Canmore. If the AEP deregulation and land sale is approved, and public, stakeholder and Indigenous consultation is completed, the Land Use Secretariat will amend the boundary of the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan (SSRP) map to ensure the change in land use aligns with those indicated in the SSRP.

AEP encourages and values your input. Instructions for providing written or online comments are available at: www.albertaparks.ca/consult

A map and Frequently Asked Questions on this proposal are also available on the Alberta Parks website. Please submit your comments via the above link. Comments will be collected until August 28, 2016.

Thank you for your support and interest in Alberta Parks.

For more information about the Land-use Framework and Alberta's regional plans, please visit: www.landuse.alberta.ca.
