Best Coaching Experience of my Life
By Averil Valine

This year, Averil had the pleasure of taking two of her students to the Wild and Lawless show in Dawson Creek, BC. One of her student's family brought along their 90 year old grandmother, Lil Davis so she could watch her great granddaughter compete over the next two days.

Lil loves horses, and with a little encouragement she entered in her first horse show!

Recreation & Trails
Backcountry Trail Flood Rehabilitation Program

Alberta Environment and Parks have been working tirelessly restoring our Provincial trails to their former glory after the devastation of the 2013 flooding. Some trails are even benefiting from upgrades! Although the restoration process is being done with user access in mind, occasionally portions of some trails need to be closed during construction. The main purpose is public safety. There is heavy machinery operating in these areas and the sites are already extremely busy. Please respect all closure signs.

Please click here for information on temporary trail closures, volunteer opportunities and completed projects.

Maps of temporary trail closures can also be found on our website
Lisa Peeters Reaches the 1000 Hour Ride and Drive Milestone!

Lisa Peeters joined Ride and Drive in 2012 mainly out of curiosity to keep track of how many hours she spent in the saddle.  With the help of her horse Elex Z and a team of miniature horses she drove for fun, Lisa has already reached the 1000 hour milestone!  Lisa also puts time behind the breeching of her dad's team of Percherons whenever she is home.  Every fall she competes in the Heavy Horse Log skid at her local rodeo and during the winter occasionally helps her dad out with hay/sleigh rides.
