CIEC Sponsorship Opportunity

 

Equine Canada is hosting the fifth CIEC at Wesley Clover Parks in Ottawa, ON from September 25-27, 2015. This team event offers athletes the opportunity to test their skills against their peers from across Canada.

Search For Demo Riders

 

The Western Style Dressage Association (WSDAC) is looking for Demo Riders for the July 25 - 26, 2015 Judging School in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. If you would like to participate please contact Gwen Hreceniuk at gwen@westernstyledressage.ca and include a brief description of you and your horse, photo or video of you riding, and include your riding levels. 

 

Demo rider submissions deadline date is July 15, 2015.

Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program

On May 15th Prime Minister Harper announced the new Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program to provide support for community and cultural infrastructure across the country. Eligible projects will include community centres, cultural centres, museums, parks, libraries, and recreational facilities. Nonprofit organizations will be eligible to submit their application online through their respective regional development agency.

Often times one may notice an animal or animals that just don't seem "right". What, if anything, should a passer-by do? What if this is your neighbour and you don't want to ruffle any feathers? Call the ALERT line at 1-800-506-2273!

Supported by Alberta's Livestock Industry the ALERT line is an Alberta Farm Animal Care service. The ALERT help line and resource service is the livestock community supporting each other and ensuring livestock well-being, one call at a time.

ALERT:
  • Is a confidential call line for anyone to report a livestock care concern.
  • Strives to assist before livestock are in distress.
  • Resource Team includes farmers and other community members.
  • Has an ALERT veterinarian program that provides knowledgeable counsel.
  • Informs members of the public that farmers do care for their animals.
  • Is available for self-reporting to assist those who may be experiencing problems in caring for their livestock.
  • Works with the Alberta SPCA and RCMP.

With the cost of tack these days, why not insure it? Adding Tack insurance to your AEF membership is a small price to pay should you encounter loss or damage due to occurrences such as theft, fire, or flood. Tack insurance offered through the AEF insures tack you own up to a maximum of $5,000 per member! If $5,000 is not enough, coverage can be increased by contacting Capri Insurance directly and letting them know you would like to increase your AEF Tack insurance coverage.

Willow Grove English P'tit Trot Camps

These will be fun filled weeks for children who want an introduction to the English Equestrian world! The "P'tit Trot" Program is designed for ages 5 and up and solely devoted to the initiation of equitation and to the horse world so that children can discover the pleasures of English Equitation and understand how to care for their horse!

This program is a great introduction to the English Learn to Ride Level 1-8 program

National Horse Day - June 6, 2015
 
AEF, Along with Equine Canada are hosting a National Horse Day on June 6, 2015. Kids 3-16 years of age are invited to participate in a national drawing contest! Organizations are also encouraged to host their own Horse Day activities.

Featured Trail - Panther River Trails Restoration 
The AEF is currently partnered with Backcountry Trails Flood Rehabilitation Program (BTFRP) on a project to restore horse drawn wagon access into the Panther Valley. This project started in May 2015 and is expected to reach completion by August 31, 2016.
