Elections will be held at the AEF Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 10:30 am at the Airdrie Agriculture Centre, 97 East Lake Ramp NE, Airdrie, Alberta, in the Theatre.

2014 Equine Canada/NCCP National Coaching Awards Submit your nominations to the AEF office by Friday, Feb 20, 2015 
About the Awards The 2014 Equine Canada/NCCP National Coaching Awards recognize Coaches and Instructors from all disciplines and contexts who exemplify the coaching and teaching practices of the National Coaching Certification Program. Nominees are recognized for their contribution to the sport as an instructor and coach, whether their students are active in competitive sport, or are recreational sport participants.

Funds Available for Trail Projects
Apply for funding for your group's trail project!

With Spring just around the corner, it's time to start thinking about your next trail project! The 2015 AEF Trail Supporter Fund application form and criteria info are available online. AEF member clubs are invited to submit their application before May 15, 2015.
Is there a trail you want to clear? Does that campsite need some corrals? Have you thought about putting in some pit toilets or campsite amenities? What about marking that hard-to-navigate trail? The AEF Trail Supporter Fund can help you to achieve those types of projects and more.

Funding Opportunity for Therapeutic Riding Groups Apply now to be a beneficiary of the 2015 AEF Wild Rose Trail Ride fundraiser!
September 2015 will mark the 4th annual Wild Rose Trail Ride - a fundraiser event to support therapeutic riding programs in Alberta.
This year, we are inviting non-profit and registered charity organizations to apply to be a beneficiary of this year's fundraising efforts, by completing and submitting an application form before April 1, 2015
Applicant organizations must be a current AEF Club member, having also held Club membership in 2014, and be registered as either a non-profit or charitable organization. |

Are you interested in pursuing an equine-related post-secondary education? The AEF offers scholarships to active members who exemplify the objectives, vision and mission of the AEF.
Scholarships of $750 and $1000 are available.
Bill desBarres Industry Scholarship (new for 2015)
The AEF board of directors is pleased to announce a new scholarship for 2015 that has been created in the name of Honorary Life Member, Bill desBarres.
Bill gave selflessly of his time as a volunteer on the AEF board and within the horse industry for the past 35 plus years. This $500 annual scholarship is intended to honor Bill's lifelong commitment and dedication to the horse community. Bill desBarres has generously matched funding for 2015, therefore, a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student in 2015.
Are you an AEF Member entering your second year of studies in Animal Health Technology at an Alberta accredited post-secondary educational institution? This scholarship may be for you!

Save the Date! 2015 Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships

Equine Canada is pleased to announce that the sixth Canadian Interprovincial Equestrian Championships (CIEC) will be held in Ottawa, Ont. at Wesley Clover Parks, Sept. 25-27, 2015.
The CIEC brings together junior and senior teams representing the ten provinces and territories in jumping, dressage and reining. Riders compete as teams and as individuals. Jumping courses are set at 1.10 m and dressage competitions use Level 1 tests. The three top individuals and teams in each discipline are awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. In addition, a Championship trophy is awarded to the provincial team with the highest cumulative number of points across all disciplines.

Rider Level Bursaries
Charlene Baker Bursary
In recognition of Charlene's work and dedication to the Equine Canada Western Rider and Equine Canada Western Coaching programs in Alberta, the AEF provides a $500 bursary awarded annually to the rider who has achieved the highest average score of the level 4 test in the Western Rider Development Program.
English Rider Bursary
This $500.00 annual award is granted to the rider who has achieved the highest average score of the level 8 test in the English Rider Development Program.
Application deadline for both bursaries is Feb 27, 2015.
