Government of Canada and partners to develop National Farm-Level Biosecurity Standard
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is working with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC), Equine Canada and partner organizations to develop a farm-level biosecurity standard that will help protect Canada's equine industry from animal diseases. The biosecurity standard will complement existing equine farm-level biosecurity programs while reflecting the diversity within the equine industry. Canadian equine custodians and owners have a longstanding and successful practice of implementing biosecurity measures. A national standard will build on this knowledge and help share best practices across the country to strengthen the industry as a whole.

Backcountry Trails Flood Rehabilitation Program
Earlier this year Environment and Sustainable Resource Development (ESRD) launched a 3 year, ten million dollar program to repair flood damage on designated trails in Public Land Use Zones. Already this summer crews have been working hard to inventorying the Bighorn Backcountry to assess flood damage and repair work has already begun on several trails, including Pinto Lake, Big Horn Dam, and Canary Creek Trails. In order to make this program as successful as possible over the coming years we need your help!
Share Your Knowledge: Know of some flood damaged trails? Have thoughts on where we should work next? By passing on this information you not only will help the program but also have a chance to win great prizes!
Get Involved: Coming up in September and October there will be opportunities to take part in volunteer days to repair trails and learn what it takes to make a trail sustainable. Over the next two year volunteers on the program will have lots of opportunity to get out and meet new people while having fun and making a difference rebuilding the trails that are important to so many.
Stay Informed: Heading out on the trails or just curious what the crews are up to? There a map for that! Information on which trails are being worked on, whether or not they are closed during construction, and what projects have been completed can all be found on the program's web map. The map is updated weekly and great way to Know Before You Go!
