AEF Trail Supporter
"Equestrian Stewardship in Action"
Equestrian trail riding, both local and in the back country, is a wonderful way to spend your days and is becoming increasingly popular. This increased demand has created an additional need for new resources. The Alberta Government has reduced its financial commitment for maintaining and developing recreational staging sites and trails. If the Equestrian community hopes to continue to have access to existing equestrian trails or to expect further development on new trails, the resources to realize these expectations will have to be funded by recreational riders.
The Alberta Equestrian Trail Supporter Program provides recreational riders the opportunity to support a funding initiative which addresses local, regional and provincial needs. By joining the Trail Supporter Program, you can help. The annual trail supporter fee is $35.00. These funds are used for trail development to provide facilities such as high lines, toilets, fire rings, signage, wells for stock watering, trail bridges, etc.

Preventing Fall & Winter Colic
Article from Equine Guelph
The fall is a time of lovely colours, family get-togethers and winding down the busy show season. However, fall is often a time of increased colic calls to veterinarians. While not all colic can be prevented, paying attention to your management of the horse can go a long way to decrease the incidence, and the suffering of episodes.
Colic, which is actually not a disease itself but a sign of stomach pains, can be caused by many different factors so it is well worth every horse owner's time to learn all they can about prevention of this syndrome.
