AEF 35th Anniversary Raffle

The Alberta Equestrian Federation is celebrating 35 years of serving members and the Alberta equine community as the provincial body for equines and equine enthusiasts.  We are excited about the 35th anniversary events planned, one such event that has come together is our amazing raffle.  Through good fortune, we have had two AEF member provincial associations step forward to donate not just a saddle each, but saddle packages!  The Tack Trunk and ATRA (Alberta Trail Riding Association) have generously provided saddle packages which include the saddle, cinch, breast collar/breast plate, bridle and a few other goodies.  The Tack Trunk has donated the English saddle package and ATRA has donated the western saddle package.

The AEF hopes to raise $10,000 by selling tickets at a great price to anyone and everyone who is, or knows a horse and owner who would love a new saddle.  Tickets are going for $3.00 per ticket, or the best deal, $5.00 for two tickets.   We need to sell 3,720 tickets in order to reach our goal. Funds raised will go toward supporting AEF youth and recreational programs,  which include AEF Trail Supporter, Ride and Drive, Live Outside the Box, Alberta clinics/workshops as well as our scholarship program.

Tickets will be available for purchase through the AEF office, AEF members, clubs, and raffle coordinators, Alison Douglas and Dena Squarebriggs.  We also hope to have tickets on hand for any and all horse related events that our members or clubs are actively attending in our province.  We encourage our members reading this article to please purchase a ticket or two to help support AEF programs, and if you are interested, please contact Alison at  AEFraffletickets@gmail.com  to offer to help sell the tickets.  They will make great stocking stuffers! We will have until April 28th to sell tickets before winners are drawn at the Mane Event in Red Deer April 26-28, 2013.

The Western saddle package (retail value approx. $2600.00) which includes a Billy Cook Saddle, pad, saddle blanket, cinch, bridle, reins and breast collar has been generously donated by ATRA.  They are a club that has been in existence for 39 years and is as dynamic and progressive now as it was at its inception.  The club promotes sponsors and coordinates equestrian activities for people with an interest in recreational trail riding and driving.  The focus of their fun and educational events is safety, good horsemanship, health and wellness of riders and equines.  They offer monthly educational speakers, monthly local rides and summer mountain rides designed to include all levels of riders and horses.  It is ATRA's goal to be responsible stewards of the equestrian trails by assisting with trail development, trail maintenance and cleanup.  They also educate members of the need to minimize their impact on the environment.   ATRA has a member base of 300 throughout the province with Edmonton as their base for all events.   To get more information on their club, visit www.atra.ca.

The English saddle package (retail value approx.. $1800.00)  which includes a HDR close contact 17" saddle, girth, leathers, stirrups, saddle pad, bridle and breastplate has been generously donated by The Tack Trunk.  The Tack Trunk is a small tack store which specializes in finding just the right items for its customers.  It was started 12 years ago by Kippy Maitland-Smith, as a convenience for friends, pupils and boarders at Cromdale Stables. The Tack Trunk then moved to Rocky Mountain House and set up as a full service tack store. Encouraged by the diversity of the equine world in the local area, the Tack Trunk stocks a representative offering for English, Western, trail riding, Pony Club, 4-H, riders and drivers.  They supply sizes from mini to draft, mules & donkey too! As part of their customer service, they enjoy tracking down those hard-to-find items or getting your favorite blanket or bridle mended.  They also listen to horse tales, share hints & dispense encouragement.

For further details on buying or selling AEF Fundraising raffle tickets or details on the saddle packages; please visit the AEF website, the AEF Facebook Event page or email Alison or Dena at AEFraffletickets@gmail.com.  We thank you in advance for your support of this fundraising initiative.
