Ri de and Drive 1000 Hour Level Achiever!
The AEF would like to congratulate Meghan Black for reaching the 1000 hour level in the Ride and Drive program! Way to go Meghan!
My name is Meghan Black and my mount for the past nine years (and counting ...) is a 2000 15.1hh sorrel AQHA mare named Winning Sonita Bar or "Sunny". I'm originally from Calgary, but I'm presently in Edmonton finishing my Masters in Geology at the University of Alberta. Thanks to my Dad, Sunny travels with me to school allowing me to ride all year! I was so proud when I achieved my goal of 1000 hours over one year in 2011! I was shocked at how quickly the hours in the saddle added up! Especially since Sunny and I train continuously for the all-around events at the open shows across Alberta. I can't wait to log another thousand!

The Ride and Drive Program is a great program to keep equestrians motivated and staying active! One of our Keynote Speakers Chris Irwin:

Chris Irwin is an internationally renowned horseman, best-selling author and widely recognized as a pioneer in the development of equine assisted programs.
His certified trainers across Canada and in the United States, Mexico, Bermuda, England, Ireland, The Netherlands, Belgium and Germany, have produced regional and national champions in reining, western trail class, 3-day eventing, show jumping, dressage, and have helped challenging thoroughbreds win races.
It was while discovering how to communicate with America's Wild Horses, transforming the primal and volatile nature of numerous "Mustangs" into 18 calm and collected U.S. National Champions in English, Western and Driving competitions, that first showed Chris his greatest insights into learning how to learn.
Chris runs his international operations from his home base at Riversong Ranch on the beautiful McLeod River near Whitecourt, Alberta. He is currently working on his next book and is in the early stages of producing a weekly television show.
Chris will be speaking on the topics "Think Horse, Speak Horse and Be the Better Horse" (Saturday Nov. 17) and "Horse Sense for Human Potential" (Sunday Nov. 18)

The Canadian Polocrosse team travelled to Rue, France to compete in an international Polocrosse tournament July 27-29, 2012.
It was the first time a Canadian team had competed against the European countries of Norway, France, Netherlands and Germany so the level of competition was unknown. After winning their first game against Norway 3-14, the Canadians continued on their winning streak defeating Netherlands 4-10 , and Germany 7-15, and finally the defending champions, France 9-14.
Victory was sweet for the Canadians who practiced hard before going to France and then stayed strong and focused when on the field. They overcame challenges of unfamiliar horses, wet conditions and a different style of play giving them great satisfaction in their win.
Congratulations team Canada! |
