Our phones have been ringing off the hook with parents requesting our baseline concussion testing program for their athletes over ten years old. It is important to get a "healthy" baseline assessment of your child's balance and cognitive function prior to the possibility of a head injury. If your son or daughter attends one of the area high schools that perform an ImPACT test at their school, chances are they have not received a comprehensive check-up. School testing is often not viable because the test is performed in large overcrowded rooms without supervision. In addition, athletes who participate in the ImPACT test alone do not receive the critical balance testing needed to properly diagnose concussion.

Here at dbOrthopedic PT, we often see these same athletes for post concussion rehabilitation that had ImPACT testing at their schools but no balance testing. When they begin therapy, we have no status of their pre-injury status which greatly affects our ability to predict recovery. Please encourage all athletes to get this important test! Former patient and GRAVITY fitness participant Hunter Gorskie joins the NY Cosmos!

We are all excited to learn that Hunter Gorskie was signed on to play professional soccer with the new NY Cosmos soccer team. Hunter is a graduate of Marlboro HS and Stanford University. Prior to starting his college career, Hunter spent several weeks rehabilitating a soccer injury and eventually doing several weeks of GRAVITY personal training at dbOrthopedic PT to get bigger and stronger for the rigors of college soccer. We're glad it worked!
