Hoosier Interfaith Power & Light

Hoosier Interfaith Power and Light (H-IPL) is an affiliate of the national Interfaith Power and Light. H-IPL seeks to inspire and equip Hoosiers of faith to respond to climate change. Our mission is to "call together Hoosiers of faith as stewards of creation in order to promote renewable energy and energy conservation and efficiency, as a faith response to climate change." We are concerned about the Earth's changing climate and believe we must act now - both individually and collectively - to reduce our environmental impact and protect the world's poor and powerless. Hoosier IPL will provide services to help faith communities inspire and enable their members to better care for creation. These services will include:

  • *A manual and self-assessment tool for congregations, allowing building committees to identify small and large steps they could take to save energy;
  • *A 12-Month Action Program for congregations that breaks home energy reduction into bite-size pieces with  comprehensive support for each;
  • *Educational presentations, workshops,seminars, and resources that provide faith-based, scientific,  and practical pathways to care of creation; and
  • *An opportunity to network and share resources with other congregations around the state and nation.

In Indiana, many cities, denominations, faiths, and congregations have or are now forming creation care groups.  Learn more from H-IPL Fact Sheet  or got to the website:   http://www.hoosieripl.org/

Indiana United Methodist Women Spiritual Growth Retreat
PLAY AS PRAYER: Living Sacramentally
May 16-17, 2014
Don Hall's Guesthouse Hotel
1313 W. Washington Center Road
Fort Wayne, IN

We all need a break from our busy lives, a time for reflection, time to listen for God's guidance. We are so busy doing all the things we are called upon to do, we don't often take the time to slow down, to sit back and think about the things that are really important, to pray, to listen, to study, to fellowship with United Methodist Women from across the conference, and to spend some time in reflection. Join us for this special time of renewal and spiritual growth.

Mission U 2014:
Learning Together for the Transformation of the World
July 22-26, 2014
DePauw University, Greencastle, IN

Effective 2013, the School of Christian Mission changed its name to Mission u: Learning Together for the Transformation of the World.

Mission u is the primary mission education event for the Indiana Annual Conference and is planned and implemented by United Methodist Women of Indiana. In addition to the adult programming for ages 17 and up, there are two components:

  • ChiMiCa (Children's Mission Camp) for ages 3 through 5th grade completed (childcare is provided)
  • YoPeMiCa (Young Peoples Mission Camp) for middle and high school aged youth

The youth and children's studies parallel the adult studies to create an intergenerational program. Studies are always Biblically-grounded, promote spiritual growth, educate and challenge participants to become more actively engaged in mission.
