ACR ResQLink PLB is finally here!
After months of waiting, we've finally received stock on the latest PLB (Personal Locator Beacon) from ACR Electronics, the ResQLink (Model #2880 with integrated GPS)!
If you're new to the concept of PLBs, imagine a tiny device in your pocket that, in the event of an emergency, will alert Search & Rescue teams of your precise location (and identity) no matter where in the world you are! Within hours, a helicopter could be hovering above, ready to evacuate you and your crew to safety. Incredibly, such a device now costs as little as $319.99!
Since 1982, distress radiobeacons have assisted in the rescue of over 28,000 people in more than 7,000 distress situations. In 2009 alone, distress radiobeacons aided in the rescue of 1,596 people in 478 distress situations.
We've beefed up our EPIRBs page with more information about the technology and two helpful videos which explain how carrying a PLB could save your life - not just on the water, but also while traveling in any remote region on foot, vehicle or by aircraft.
IMPORTANT! As most EPIRBs and PLBs are programmed for sale in the United States, they are normally not compatible with the Canadian registry. Canadians shopping online often unwittingly purchase these US models and later wind up paying $80 to have them re-programmed! Pride Marine sells Canadian-programmed devices. More information is available on our EPIRB page (link above).

In January, we asked our readers if the boat show is still relevant. Here are the results..
- Absolutely! It's the only thing that gets me through winter! 28%
- Yes. I'll probably buy something too. 41%
- Sure, I'll look around, but keep my hands in my pockets. 5%
- Maybe if I get free tickets and they have an open bar... 10%
- Absolutely not! I'd rather go iceboating in a speedo! 16%
Thanks for voting - looks like the boat show is a hit! So what did you think of the show? Post your comments on our facebook page!

Ribbed Fenders: What's up with that?
While showing customers our vast selection of fenders, we are often asked, "why are most fenders ribbed? Is this for style or function?"
We're glad you asked. Quite simply, ribs enhance strength and prevent rolling. In short, ribs enhance docking pleasure.
You can read more on our Fenders & Bumpers page.

The Skinny on Holt Allen
One of our favourite brands over the years was Holt Allen. Yes, was. Just in case you hadn't noticed, a couple years ago Holt Allen suddenly called it quits after a partnership of over 50 years. According to Kim Allen, a dispute arose over the purchase of Brazilian manufacturer Nautos.
Allen has taken over the "HA" product line as Allen Brothers (or simply Allen). Holt offers two main product lines, Holt Performance and Holt Nautos.
And of course, we stock all of them.
