Product of the Month: Boaties Fry Pan

You're already heard the "square peg in a round hole" phrase. But what about the opposite? Anyone who has cooked on a marine stove with a regular, round household frying pan understands what we're getting at.

We're very excited to announce the arrival of the unique Boaties Fry Pan which is specifically designed for galley stoves. Its rectangular design provides the equivalent cooking area of a much larger pan without encroaching on the adjacent burner - and it's easier to store!
Amherst Island results

Tantrim! The 11th Annual Amherst Island Pursuit Race & Able Sail Kingston Regatta (the name is as long as the race is fun) went without a hitch, and as usual, its unique "chase race" format made it a big hit with participants... not to mention a success after raising $5000 for charity! Check out the pictures on our Facebook page (you don't need to be subscribed to Facebook to see them). You can also download the raw, full size versions of each photo from our Drop Box account (available until Nov 1)
What, no Teleporter?

If you're a marine electronics enthusiast (a.k.a. gadget junkie), then you've got to check out Raymarine's e7 "next generation" Multi-Function Touch Screen Display; it's incredible! We haven't added it to our site just yet (Canadian pricing isn't available) but we'll add it to our New Products in the near future.

Make sure to watch the demonstration video on Raymarine's web site. Our favourite feature? "Polarized Sunglasses-Friendly screen"!
Product Spotlight: IMAR Cleaner and Polish for Strataglass

Have you got Strataglass on board? Strataglass is a premium, flexible, coated vinyl sheeting used in a variety of high quality marine canvas dodgers and biminis. This material is engineered with high resistance to damage from UV rays, environmental fallout, and scratching.

However, special vinyl should be treated with special care;
IMAR has produced two Strataglass-specific products - a cleaner and polish - to help you protect your investment. In fact, Strataglass' site states that any other cleaners/polishes will void their factory warranty! (more info about this statement
Tales from Davy Jones' Locker!

Last month we asked for your best "item lost overboard" story via e-mail or our Facebook page. Thanks for all your responses!

Our favourite came from Shelly in LaSalle (Ontario) who dropped the keys to her father-in-law's new Mustang convertible into the drink on Father's Day! Luckily, the story has a happy ending.
Product Spotlight: TDS Teak Caulking

Does your boat have teak decks? If so, you might want to bookmark our TDS Teak Caulking page. This is a one-part, Silane polymer adhesive which creates a tough, flexible solid rubber compound between your teck decking boards. It doesn't sag during curing, has excellent resistance to chemicals and temperature changes, and is a fantastic alternative to the commonly-used Sika 290DC.
Pop Quiz: How to Layer your Cold Weather Clothing

In a previous newsletter, we discussed "layering", a technique for staying warm in the cold seasons. Since the weather is starting to cool down, perhaps it's time for a Pop Quiz!

L
isted in order from inner to outer, what are the 3 layers used in a layering system?

By clicking on any of the links above (hopefully the correct one), you'll be taken to our Clothing & Gear page where you can review how to best layer your clothing. Proper layering techniques can provide you with optimal warmth and comfort while on the water during the upcoming cold seasons!

One final note: Fugawi's navigation software, Marine ENC, can now load Navionics Plug-and-Play charts (which were purchased after April 2010) directly onto your computer's hard drive. This means that the Navionics Multi Card Reader is no longer required. As we mentioned in an earlier newsletter, the card reader is discontinued and only available as supplies last.

That's all folks! As usual, we hope you enjoyed this newsletter. Read more on our web site, www.pridemarine.com, drop by the store or give us a ring toll-free at 1-888-732-8883.

Cheers!
